Kevin's Toasted Honey Wheat Berry Bologna and Egg Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Kevin my mom made these for us too and the three of us all loved them! These days I normally make Taylor Ham, egg and cheese sammies but I just had to try this on my gang and they Yummed them all down! The only thing I did differently was grill the bread in a buttered skillet instead of making toast. Thanks so much for the comforting memory Kevin!

Jo's Chicken Liver Pate

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
I'm happy to be the first to review this recipe because it was fabulous! I have a weakness for pate and this did not disappoint! The addition of wine and capers gave the pate a wonderful flavor. Thank you so much! YUM!

Excellent rub that made great tasting grilled chicken. The only change I made was to reduce the amount of salt. Thank you Hugh!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
YUM Justine! Just found out it was my neighbors birthday so I put an emergency call in to daughter number 1 who's a manager for Bath and Body Works to bring home a pretty Fall candle and then went on a hunt for a quick but delish no bake recipe. I'm a Reeses freak so I knew this had to be a winner. Personally I love the graininess the graham crackers gives the bars as it reminds me very much of the infamous peanut butter cup. I found that I didn't have quite enough crackers so I supplemented with rolled oats and ended up loving the chewy texture it added. Took the great advice from "zmo" and used parchment paper to line my pan and another from Lisa who suggested adding PB to the chocolate. Also listened to others and only used two cups of sugar. Fantastic little dessert Justine and thank you!

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Six hours on low produced a moist and very delicious chicken that was enjoyed by all. I have a lot of sauce leftover which won't go to waste as I'll freeze it to use with stir fry's. Served this placing the chicken pieces over ramen noodles and steamed broccoli. Thank you so much Kathy!

Lentil Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Fantastic Robyn!! I made this late last night for today but after a taste, I just couldn't wait and scooped myself a midnight snack. Like another reviewer I decided to use quinoa instead of the bulgar wheat but that's just a personal choice as both work well. I'm not a fan of whole tomatoes in chili so I added tomato sauce instead and as I do with all my chili recipes, I also added black coffee and cocoa powder. A few more seasonings such as garlic and onion powders and a bit of cayenne pepper and it was the perfect bowl of chili! It doesn't get much healthier than this and I thank you Robyn for a fantastic recipe!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Such a delicious recipe Colleen! I followed the directions exactly with the exception of gently simmering the breasts about twenty minutes instead of ten. The balsamic gave the most wonderful flavor to the dish and the broth mellowed it out just perfectly. Daughter Tyler is home from school this weekend and gave your recipe two thumbs up Colleen. Thank you so much!

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
After reading all of the stellar reviews I knew I just had to try this soup, however, after checking out the recipe I was a little taken aback that it included a pre-packaged boxed leek soup mix. If your blood pressure is extremely low or if you're one to pay no mind to sodium, then this recipe is for you. However, I have a problem feeding my family over 1400 mgs. of sodium per serving so my solution was to make a healthy leek soup and then proceed with the recipe. Having eaten lots of New England clam chowder, I found this to be a bit thin so I mashed up a couple more potatoes and added them in. With these changes my gang loved it Cyndi and I thank you for a great starting point!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
This wasn't bad but we found we much prefer our egg plant fried. I did make my own sauce but there are certainly many good jarred ones out there if you're in a hurry. Adding some parm to the bread crumbs makes them even yummier. I've always wanted to try a no fry recipe so this certainly was not a waste of time. It was definitely enjoyed by my family I'll go back to being splattered with oil! Thank you!

Baked Ziti with Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
Every beginner cook should have this simple yet very good recipe in their recipe box. My daughter and her college friends went searching AR, found this and of course, loved the results. The kids followed the recipe but decided to take the sausage out of the casings before browning. Miss Tyler says Thank You!

Greek-Style Baked Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
Fantastic recipe! My only additions were garlic and onion powders and black pepper. Between the evoo and the juices from the fish and the tomatoes, a nice little sauce formed that kept the fish really moist and flavorful. Thank you Cathappy!

Beer Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Having European parents, I grew up eating lots of German food. I'm not the biggest fan, particularly when it comes to any type of sausage but I just tasted this and it's absolutely delicious! I didn't have kielbasa in the house so I subbed with bratwurst and added some caraway seeds to the mix. Cooking wise, I did brown my wurst first and then added my potatoes and the rest of the ingredients. No layering here, just threw it all together. The combination of flavors is everything one would expect from a good German dish and I know this will definitely go down as a family favorite. Thank you DJ!

Roasted Red Pepper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Oh my Bob, was this ever good!!!!!!! I'm hanging my head in shame as I cheated and just bought a jar of roasted red peppers. (do you mind if I say that this was a really, really good idea and would do it again? Ha!) Yup, I didn't see the need to roast my own peppers and it worked out beautifully. I added more parm than suggested just because I love it and it also helped to thicken the sauce. I had run out of fat free half and half so I used skim milk instead. It was perfect and will continue to use it with this recipe. A few dashes of red pepper flakes added just a bit of friendly heat to satisfy all of our palates. Fantastic recipe Bob and we all thank you so very much!!

Mock Lobster

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Great recipe that we all had a grand time chowing down on, however, to even think this tasted anything like lobster is another story. Well, I suppose if you dip anything in butter it would taste like lobster or even crab for that matter, but this certainly did not because I chose to save the marinade which I simmered and thickened with cornstarch to serve as a sauce. If you're really looking for mock lobster I suggest Monk fish which is known as "poor man's lobster." Joyful Mamma, thank you so much for this oh so yum recipe that I'll certainly make over and over again!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
Sensational Jackie! I make traditional egg rolls all the time so I was really excited when I ran across this Southwestern version. Instead of chicken I used ground turkey and just because I'm not a huge flour tortilla fan, I used regular egg roll wrappers which I doubled. Spicy Ranch dressing made for some really nice dipping. Everyone loved these Jackie and you can be sure I'll be making these over and over again. Thank you so very much!

Vegetable Fried Rice

I had a medley of leftover vegetables from the night before which worked great in this dish. Due to allergies I had to skip the peanut oil but canola did just fine. Good recipe and thank you!
