Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
We thought this was very good but I did find it a little on the bland side. I used quite a few different seasonings, threw in some Franks Hot Sauce and used Pepper Jack Cheese for some kick. After adding the milk to the roux I added in the cheese as well to make a sauce before stirring it into the soup. Kids enjoyed this very much and I'll certainly be making this again as I think you could have a lot of fun playing around with this recipe. Thank you so much!!

Tomato Steak Sandwiches

I used leftover prime rib for this recipe and because DH isn't a cream cheese fan, I subbed with a mixture of mayo and horseradish. Was really liked by the whole family and thank you Tessa!

Ting-Town Barbeque Beef Sandwich

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
With the exception of adding in onion powder and more chili powder, I made this as written and it was a tremendous hit with the family. As others suggested, I removed the meat and thickened the sauce with corn starch. Delicious and thank you!!

Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This was so quick and easy it was almost a joke! I made rice in my new rice cooker for stuffed peppers and didn't need to use it all. I still had my cooker on "warm" so I just added in the rest of the ingredients and viola, rice pudding! Kids went nuts over it Laura and thank you!!

Chorizo Stuffed Bell Peppers

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
A great stuffed pepper recipe that was enjoyed by all. I've never found the need to par boil or pre-cook my peppers, so they went into the oven as is, however, I do cover the dish with foil and make sure there's plenty of liquid on the bottom of the pan. I added more seasonings than called for and used my food processor to make the sausage finer. Terrific and thank you!

Restaurant-Style Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
According to the meat eaters of my family, this was incredible. I added beef broth to the bottom of the pan once the drippings really started to sizzle. I pulled the roast at 134 degrees and it was done perfectly for us. I separated the fat from the juice, used the fat to make yorkshire pudding and the rest of the juice made a wonderful Au Jus. Thank you Barbara!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
Thank you so very much "lovestohost" for submitting your suggestions to help everyone out with your wonderful recipe. I'm not a big dessert eater, except when it comes to cupcakes. I love them and these were exceptional to say the least! I will admit that we cheated and used the Pillsbury pull apart cookies and they were still incredible. My daughters friend ate four in one sitting; HA! Ten stars for taste and twenty for creativity!! Thank you again!!

Vegetable-Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
These were fabulous Elise!! Some members commented on the balsamic overpowering the mushrooms so instead, I marinated them in a bottled balsamic salad dressing and it was perfect. In addition to topping the dish off with parm, I also mixed some into the filling along with garlic and onion powders. Altho I love eggplant, I chose to use zucchini for this dish. The mushrooms were so darn pretty and I really wish I had remembered to have taken a picture!! My family so enjoyed this and they all thank you for sharing!!

Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
I'm so happy this recipe has such good reviews because I would hate my three star rating to affect that. Personally, I had to jump thru hoops in order to make this sauce flavorful. As written it was quite bland, so I added garlic and onion powders, chives, like "Ruth," dijon mustard and finally I decided to throw in a bit of fortified wine to offset the milky taste. I must say the end result was very good and my family truly enjoyed it. Thank you for a good starting point!

Beer Brats

Growing up in a German household I'm "brat-ed" out, but my gang loves them and thought this recipe was awesome. They used the rest of the "juice" for dipping and thought they were in heaven. Thanks Zach!

Tater Tot Casserole II

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
Because this recipe is on the bland side, I can see this being very kid friendly, but for our tastes I needed to punch this up. I took the advice from others by adding onion, lots more seasonings, green beans, cheese and even fried onions. And yes, I did indeed brown the meat. Still I found the dish to be just fair at best, however, it was eaten so I've no complaints. Thank you!

Blackened Fish

So Good!! I used tilapia for this and to make it a bit healthier, I brushed the fillets with canola oil. I cut back a bit on the cayenne and the cumin, but the spice combination was perfection. Thank you Susan!

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This is one fabulous marinade Mabcat and now I can't wait to try it with chicken! The only thing that stopped me from giving this five stars is the amount of adobo sauce it called for. I love heat, but Chipolte adobo sauce is some seriously hot stuff and honestly, one teaspoon gave the sauce just the right amount of punch for me. With that, I thought the sauce was wonderful and didn't feel the lime overpowered it at all. It was very refreshing. This is the fish taco recipe I'll be making from now on; not only is it the most flavorful one I've made, but it's definitely one of the healthiest too. Thank you so much!

Baked Pancakes with Sausages

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
Well I admit, this was a "help me, I messed up" recipe I was looking for. I was making Bisquick pancakes for my college daughter who was home for the weekend and stupidly added one extra cup of milk. Needless to say I had to compensate by adding more mix but certainly didn't want to spend the morning flipping a couple of dozen pancakes. So, I went on my search and found this and boy did it ever save me, Ha!! Per the directions for extra fluffy pancakes, I also added in lemon juice and per moi, some vanilla for flavor. I used a long Pyrex casserole dish and coated the bottom with melted butter to prevent sticking. I can't believe how quickly this baked up and how delish it was. It was like a big fluffy pancake cake! We loved it and thanks Janet!!
