Trisha's Game Day Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
The man was so excited when I made this! I used some leftover grilled chicken, so that added a wonderful flavor. I did add some extra hot wing sauce because we like it spicy and then topped with blue cheese crumbles. I served it with tortilla chips and celery sticks. Thanks!

Sweet Pepper French Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I will give 4 stars, though I may not make this again. The recipe title said "sweet" but it was too sweet for me. The color was wonderful though! Next time I would probably cut the sugar in half and double the mustard powder. I might even add some cracked pepper.

Cuban-style Grilled Turkey Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I didn't know whether I should use dill or sweet relish, but I used sweet, so I left the sugar out of the dressing. I thought the sandwich would be dry, but it wasn't. I do however think it should have more flavor, so next time I would put the dressing on both sides, and maybe add a tomato or slice of avocado to the sandwich. thanks!

Grilled Yellow Squash

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
Sometimes simple is best! I grilled homegrown yellow squash and zucchini with this and loved it. I will be making this all summer long!

Blueberry Egg and Cheese Bagel

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I can't comment on the originality of this breakfast sandwich, because I don't eat at fast food places. However, I do eat blueberry bagels, and eggs, so I thought I would give it a shot. I scrambled an egg for my sandwich. It was ok - though I am not entirely sure I will eat this combination again, I am glad I tried it.

Mango Ponzu Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
Loved it! I added some red bell pepper for color, cut the brown sugar a tad, since my mangoes were so ripe. I will make this all summer long!

Cod Fish Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I have never been a big fan of fish cakes. I eat them because the man loves them. The only change I made was to add some garlic, extra onion and saute instead of fry, and a serve with lemon wedges. He likes them, and that makes me happy!

Chipotle Shrimp Tacos

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
These were amazing! I used thick cut Amish-market turkey bacon since I don't eat pork. I also modified this to grill since it was way too hot for cooking inside. I marinated the shrimp in the chipotle, lime and cilantro while I soaked skewers. Then I threaded the shrimp, wrapped in bacon alternated with quartered onions and grilled til the shrimp were done. I tossed the tortillas on the grill for a few minutes to warm them and then squeezed extra lime on the plate of shrimp. WOW!

Tangy Dill Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I really liked this, but the man was not 100% with me on it. I followed other reviewers' suggestions, and I added the dressing while the potatoes were warm. I wished that I had added more dressing though. Next time I will. I also used fresh dill from my garden. I will make this again, because I get tired of the same ol' thing, even if that is what his mother always makes!

Caribbean Chicken Grill with Pineapple Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
We liked this, and it was a great opener to summer for our grilling season! I used fresh pineapple, so I had to make up the juice, and used regular canned juice that I had on hand. I am sure glad I used that fresh pineapple - it didn't matter for the marinade, but it was fantastic in the salad! Next time, I would marinate longer, and probably poke the chicken with a fork before marinating the make sure that delicious flavor really permeated the main dish!

Dry Ranch Style Seasoning for Dip or Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I typically do not like ranch dressing or flavor, even though I love everything that goes into it. My garden was bursting with herbs, and the man adores it, so I gave in. I was shocked, at how much I actually liked it! I did use fresh parsley, and thyme, and the man said he missed the dill flavor, so I added some fresh dill too, and paprika for color. Overall, I will make this again, using fresh herbs from my garden!

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This is a standby side dish at my house, especially during the summer when my basil is growing! Tonight I tossed some chopped cherry tomatoes in after the pasta was cooking, and served it chilled with grilled chicken. It's versatile and a wonderfully different accompaniment (hot or cold) to grilled food in the summer or baked in the winter!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving, and it was pretty good, but not worth quite as much work as went into it. I had wanted to see and be able to taste the two layers, and in my cake you couldn't do that. I will likely switch back to a regular pumpkin cheesecake next year, but thanks for the great recipe!

Cheddary Chicken Potpie

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This is the recipe that cemented my relationship with Allrecipes. So many years later, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet! I tend to make my own cream sauce these days instead of the canned condensed soups, but I STILL love this pot pie, and think that the pancake mix topping is genius!

Mexican Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This was quite good! I thought it needed to sit for a few hours to let the flavors meld, but the next day it was great - so I recommend making this a day ahead!

tasty! Next time I think I would like a little more lime, so maybe I will baste with juice while on the grill. Chicken was moist and well received!

Jalapeno Popper Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
Nice! We had to kick it up a notch and add jalapeno powder because the fully seeded and diced peppers didn't have enough. I used the ranch spice mix recipe from this site, and enjoyed it quite a bit - will definitely make this again!

Oregano-Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
The man said wow before he had even finished the first bite. I used breasts because I had them thawed, and fresh oregano from my garden.

Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
As written I found this pretty bland. However, I added fresh ground pepper, sauteed onions, more garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and some mushroom powder. After adding all the seasonings we really enjoyed it.

Radish Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
We really enjoyed this. I too left the skins on the cukes for color. Since I have both growing in my garden, we will be eating this a lot I think!
