Gypsy Soup

Can I give this 15 stars? Beautiful, hearty, rich, flavorful, healthy soup. I added two chopped carrots, doubled the garlic (of course) and found I had no tumeric so substituted dried mustard and some curry powder. Will definitely make this next winter.

Beer Brats

Made these for a bbq I threw recently and people loved them. Used generic brand sausages and cream ale. Even my dad, who is extremely picky about his grilled sausages said they were "excellent." The solitary leftover bratwurst was yummy chopped up in cheesy cheddar scrambled eggs.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Would give it ten stars if I could. I used about 2 cups of sharp cheddar and 1/2 cup parmesan and added about a teaspoon of garlic powder (of course) to the eggs. YUMMY! So delicious and made with things that I always have on hand.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marble Cake

The only downside to this cake is that it gets a few bowls messy. I Made this for my friend's birthday and it was a hit. The birthday girl even said it "made her birthday." and everyone at the party gobbled it up. Iced it with chocolate buttercream frosting and sprinkled chopped up Reese's cups on tops.

Lemon Ice-Box Cake I

The perfect end to a summer get-together. I thought that the cream cheese and sugar might be lumpy but it worked perfectly. Easy to prepare, light, absolutely delicious desert. 10 people absolutely devoured the entire 9x13 dish, most going back for seconds.

Raspberry Cake

Really good, awesomely moist, perfectly berryful cake. Made it as a bundt cake and drizzled it with a lemony glaze. My friends who ate the cake started joking that they wanted me to bake their wedding cakes.

Taco Soup VI

I used 2 lb ground beef, halved the spices and added a chopped onion to the meat while it was browning. Delish with a dollop of sour cream and shredded cheese on top. Everyone asked me for the recipe.

Butterscotch Apple Cookies

Yes, grating up an apple is a pain in the rear but oh so worth it. I've made these twice and the second time I added in some minced up dried apple and it gave another layer of texture to the cookies that went over quite well.

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Not that this needs another good rating, but this was incredibly yummy. The only changes I made were to add a can of cheddar cheese soup for a bit of extra cheesy flavor. My dinner guests devoured it up and then begged for the leftovers.

Dark Chocolate Cake II

this stuff is fantastic! I made this into cupcakes to bring to a party and got about 1/2 of them in the liners before I realized that I had forgotten to add the sugar (OOPS!). I scraped the batter out of the liners back into the bowl, added the sugar, put the batter BACK into the liners and put them in the oven, convinced that they weren't going to turn out. They were still FABULOUS!

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Good bye Campbell's! I raided my herb garden and, in addition to the 14 basil leaves, decided to put in a few sprigs of summer savory, some cinnamon basil, and some fresh oregano. WOW. This soup was vibrant, creamy and altogether AMAZING. Served up with an Italian salad and some crusty bread it made a delectable summer dinner....I just have to run an extra mile in the morning....

Simple Garbanzos

I cannot keep my spoon out of these! As is, they are perfect but I spiced them up to my liking and added a shook of Italian seasoning in addition to the oregano. Along with some roasted brussels sprounts, these made a lovely little mini-meal

Vegetable Beef Soup I

I have officially found my "keeper" of vegetable soup recipes. I did change it up a little bit, though. I used V8 juice, added a packet of onion soup mix, doubled the vegetables, added 6 cloves of garlic (of course!), and added a dash of worcestershire sauce, added a dash of hot sauce, and omitted the salt. MUCH better than the canned stuff. I will try making it in the crock pot to get the beef even more tender next time.

Split Pea Soup with Rosemary

Not half bad. My family prefers ham, so I defrosted some remainders from a holiday ham and added some Liquid Smoke to the soup (about 1/8 teaspoon). Very good flavor and texture. My family really enjoyed it, but I am still convinced I can find a better one.

Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breasts

Really good. I doubled the recipe for 11 chicken breasts, used onion powder instead of minced onion, doubled the amount of garlic (of course) and 1/2 dried, 1/2 fresh rosemary. I let this soak for about 12 hours, microwaved in the marinade for about 10 minutes and finished up on the grill. Everyone LOVED it. I think this one is going into my file of "Really Good Stuff to do With Chicken Breasts."

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Had about an hour to whip together something tasty to bring to a meeting. Made these and left the nuts out because I didn't have them. I was expecting them to be so-so but they got rave reviews. Someone even said "I think that is the best muffin I've ever eaten."

Chantilly Cake Frosting

YUMMY! I made this to frost on a batch of dark chocolate cupcakes for a party and it was all I could do to keep myself from eating all of it out of the bowl. The party-goers raved as well.

Mexican Bean Salad

not half bad...I made it for a potluck and decided to decrease the salt, hot sauce, and chili powder (I love spicy foods but I wanted it to be more "crowd friendly). Next time I will use full recommended amounts. And there will be a next time. I devoured the leftovers :)
