Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

I had the urge to make pancakes this morning and I've honestly never made them from scratch before. Usually I reach for my trusty box of pancake mix but this time I was out so I came here to look up recipes. I came across this one as being one of the highest rated ones so I figured I'd give it a shot. The recipe is extremely easy, and very tasty. Even my chef husband enjoyed them. I'll definitely be making them again!

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Great recipe for egg salad. I got a craving for egg salad one day since the tea house I go to has these great mini egg salad sandwiches that I love so much. I was looking for a recipe that would match and this one pretty much did the trick! I left out the onion though b/c I am not a fan. I actually *forgot* to add the paprika which I'm bummed about because I think it would be a great touch. I will add that next time for sure. Otherwise-great recipe, very tasty! I will make this again.

Eggplant Parmesan II

Excellent! I've tried a few other Eggplant Parm recipes on this site, but this was by far the best. The only thing I did differently was I sweat the Eggplant prior to breading/baking it. I sliced my eggplant very very thin, followed the rest of the directions and the end result was DELICIOUS. From now on this is the only recipe I will use for Eggplant Parm.

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Very good, simple recipe that took little to no time to prepare at all. I made some substitutions for a lighter version though. Instead of heavy cream I used light and instead of butter I used light margarine. Both worked just fine. I used grated parmesan (regular) and that was all this recipe needed. To my taste, I added a little bit of black pepper to the sauce once it was complete. I served this with crab meat and whole wheat pasta. It reminded me of the crab alfredo dish at Red Lobster, yum! The sauce was great, and I would definitely make it again.

Easy Seafood Fettucini

Good, easy to follow recipe. I added some Parmesan cheese to the sauce which added a nice flavor to it, but besides that I followed the recipe as stated and it came out well. I used imitation crab meat which tended to soak up the liquid in the sauce and become a bit soggy so I suggest using real crab meat if you have it on hand. All in all I would make this again.

Best Brownies

I don't know why I was skeptical about these brownies, but I was definitely proven wrong. I followed the directions to a T and did NOT use a mixer-I hand mixed instead as per one of the suggestions here. The brownies came out fudgy (which I prefer over cake-like). I made sure not to overcook and they were perfect. Very easy and good recipe!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

I'll never buy a boxed mix again! No reason to! This recipe is super easy and super delicious. I used these for cupcakes and they came out soft, light and moist. The were the perfect consistency and taste. I tried just the vanilla cake mix, the next time I'll try the variations. Very pleased with this recipe.

Eggplant Parmesan I

Very good recipe. The only thing I did differently was to bread the eggplant slices, and I put a little extra shredded mozzarella on the top. This was my first attempt at eggplant parmesan, and I would definitely make it again.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

I can't say enough great things about this recipe. First off, I'm way more of a baker than a cook...and most of the dinners that I make that don't already come in a box end up coming out pretty poor..I'm fully ready to admit that. Now that that's out in the open, this recipe was SUPER easy to follow. I followed it to a T except I subbed rosemary for thyme. Every step went off without a hitch and by the time I was done, I was super proud of myself, it looked and smelled great...but I had that one burning question left...did it taste good? The answer is YES, it was delicious! On par with something my husband might make, and he's a chef! I highly recommend this recipe to anyone, but especially to the fumbling cook such as myself ;) If you're a novice cook and need to make a dinner for guests-I'd say this is your #1 fool-proof guest pleaser! Also great for any occasion though.

wow...GREAT recipe. I followed the directions to a T and they came out wonderfully! I love how cute they look, by far the most professional-looking cookie I've made, not to mention delicious too. I'll be gifting these for the holidays and saving some for myself too :)

Tangy Shrimp and Scallops

Loved this! So easy and so flavorful! I didn't have Worcestershire sauce on hand so I substituted soy sauce and it was still great! I grilled these on my George Foreman grill because it's just too cold to grill outdoors and they honestly came out great. I can't wait to try this on the real grill when the grilling season hits!

Aunt Bev's Famous Apple Pie

Delish! I followed the recipe to a T. This was my first attempt at a pie ever so, I had a bit of trouble rolling out the pie crust (I had to buy boxed pie crust mix b/c I couldn't find already made shells go figure). Anyways despite my crust not looking so perfect the pie tasted awesome! This is a great, simple good old standby that I will definitely make again. I found already rolled pie crust at the supermarket the other day too go figure! Next time I will use that :) Thanks Aunt Bev! ;)

Lemon Soup

Very good quick alternative to avgolemono soup (greek lemon soup) which normally takes much longer than this. This was quick, easy and tasty. Next time I will probably add bits of carrots or maybe pieces of chicken but this was a great quick fix for me tonight since tomorrow is food shopping day and the pantry is a bit empty!

Steff's Shepherd Pie

Very good, easy recipe that even I can make haha. I did make some changes though. Instead of ground beef I used ground turkey, instead of cheddar cheese I used 2% american cheese, and I also used red potatoes for the mash and mixed veggies. It still came out great and I would make this again definitely.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Very moist and soft-followed the directions to a T except I had to substitute half a cup of butter for margarine. I only had one stick of butter and then I used half cup of margarine to make up for the lack...still these cookies came out very good.

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies I

I've been looking for a really dense, chewy oatmeal cookie recipe and haven't quite found one yet, however this one is still pretty good. I think I may have overcooked the first batch by a couple of minutes-they were not burnt by any means but came out very light and fluffy rather than chewy. The second batch I made sure to watch the cooking time..I'd say 8 min max, and I had a bit of a denser cookie which I liked. The taste is great and I did enjoy this recipe.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

YUM! I was looking for chewy chocolate chip cookies but all the recipes I found ended up making hard cookies. I tried this one out tonight and was very happy with the result. The batter was a little more wet than I'm used to but the cookies came out super moist and chewy! Great cookie.

Cherry Crisp

This definitely hit the spot. Yummy and tart, and the topping provided the right amount of crunch and sweetness. Served this with vanilla ice cream and it went FAST!
