i didnt think this was sweet enough. i also over cooked it. dont cook it till its crunchy! just till it starts to brown then it will get its crunch as it cools!

Coconut Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
just finished frosting this. if the batter and the frosting tastes are any indication this is going to be awesome. i'm made it for my hubby's nana's birthday so i hope it's great. i was worried a couple times b/c the frosting looked funny and the browned coconut looked oily but i kept on and it turned out beautiful! i couldn't find coconut oil so i used canola and instead of milk i substituted coconut milk in the cake and the frosting. thanks for a great recipe!

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
made these for a family get together and everyone raised over them. apparently i'm the only one in my family who can get a rise out of yeast...worked the dough in my bread machine and it was so simple and easy and no mess at all!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
these were my first attempt at frying doughnuts. they turned out great! i started by making them traditional style and then made some boston creme doughnuts. now, those were the bomb!!! i did think that they were a little too greasy though but that was my fault i think. also, be sure that when you allow them to rise the second time that they are not touching each other or even close...you'll end up w/ pancakes. :) mine went thru a 3rd rising b/c of this!

Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
made this in my old fashioned hand crank freezer and i will never buy ice cream again! i did add about a quarter of a gallon of 2% milk though b/c my freezer is REALLY big and the recipe barely filled up the bottom! it was still absolutely delish and i will make it probably every few days for my husband!

Southern Style Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
i made this last nite and it was really great. i doubled the recipe to make enough for my family and some of my husband's coworkers. i also added some carrots, celery, chopped onion and fresh green beans b/c hubby likes it that way. the only thing that i didn't like was it was more of a soup style than creamy like i'm used to. so, i added some flour and cornstarch w/ a little broth and then mixed it back in. it's awesome!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
This recipe i think would've been great...however, i forgot to turn the slow cooker on before going to church. so, i got home everything was still very much raw and cold so i threw it all in the skillet and it was great then. i did add a little more onion and i used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. i also marinated sirloin strips in merlot overnite. got rave reviews on it from my friends even though they had to wait for a few minutes for it. i'm sure it would have really rocked in the slow cooker tho! thanks!

hurray for a chocolate rush!!! i made these and was disappointed b/c they came out really flat and too moist. i didn't know brownies could be like that. my kids loved them but i didn't care too much for them.

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
i used to make these w/ my friends all the time. we double the recipe cuz we eat about half as we make them! (the good days when flab wasn't an issue!) just a thought though...you really don't have to use instant oats. regular works fine too and they give it more chewyness like a cookie instead of like candy. if you get too anxious and take it off the heat too soon and they don't firm up...just stick them in the freezer! great for a chocolate fix on a warm day!
