About this Cook
Originally Canadian, I now live in Seattle Washington. I started life as a High School Biology teacher and am now a Manager at Microsoft. I come from a varied background; Dutch, French Canadian and Irish and am a dedicated foodie. I love and miss the authentic food (and breads) in Toronto, my home town and love the Asian and Ocean influences in Seattle. I have eaten worldwide and had some of my best meals in Nice, France and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. West Indian cuisine is a major food fav of mine!
My favorite things to cook
I cook a wonderful fresh pasta pomodoro, soups and stews are a specialty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are a very eclectic family - ribs, pasta, Swedish pancakes, smothered pork chops - we always have a smorgosbord christmas day coupled with freshly made cocoa.
My cooking triumphs
I was having my French Canadian relatives over for Reveillon - Christmas Eve and cooked a wonderful Tourtiere - a French Canadian minced pork pie.
My cooking tragedies
I once forgot a pot roast on the stove and came home to 3 fire engines surrounding the house. They crashed in the front door and luckily found a smouldering pot vs. a flame - this averted the house being hosed down. I subsequently found the smouldering embers that were once a pot roast unceremoniously chucked into the backyard.

Boston Baked Beans
The flavor was excellent - smokey and full. The beans became mushy - I will decrease the boiling time.Kids loved the beans and we coupled them with some shredded cheese.
