About this Cook
Married 37 years with 3 adult children and 10 grandchildren.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy Baking Pies and Breads. My specialty is Berry Pies and Cream Pies. I also make a mean Sweet Honey Wheat Bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm continuing the great tradition my Grandfather implemented back in the 50's and 60's by baking all kinds of treats to enjoy in his kitchen whenever I came over to visit.
My cooking triumphs
I make the best Blackberry/Marionberry pie you've ever eaten.
My cooking tragedies
My first two cream pie creations weren't cooked on the stove long enough and I didn't use enough starch to thicken the filling. They looked good on the Thanksgkiving table but the fillings never set and they were runny and uneatable. That just gave me the motivation to learn and improve. Now I'm called the Pie Master by my family.

Fudgy Chocolate Cream Pie
This is my one and only Chocolate Cream Pie Recipe. Family and friends rave about this and describe it as "chocolate decadence". I double the ingredients to make a really thick, full pie. Make sure you boil for 1-2 minutes after boiling starts. It will thicken up nicely for you. Definitely Five Stars. You won't be disappointed!

Favorite Pie Crust
I have been searching for the "Perfect Pie Crust" that tasted like my Grandma's Pie Crusts back in the 50's & 60's. I finally found it with this recipe. The Lard and Brown Sugar are the secret. This recipe makes crusts that are Light, Tender and Flaky. I made 3 different fruit pies for Christmas Dinner for all the family and everyone raved about my pies and especially the delicious crust. I have tried many other crust recipes and this one is definitely the best of them all. This will always be my one and only crust.
