Slow Cooker Pork with Apricots

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
Didn't have pineapple juice so used white wine. Plus I cooked it in the pressure cooker for 11 min. Then sprinkled the dish with parsley as none of us like cilantro

Smashed Cauliflower Side Dish

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
Use this instead of rice if you are on the Atkins diet/low carb. Works great. Taste great. I only gave it 4 stars because you really need to use fresh cauliflower to get the mash and taste just right.

Fabulous Colcannon (Mashed Potatoes and Cabbage)

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
I have made this tonight for dinner for family and friends. I cooked the spuds on the cook top as the 1st part of this recipe. All the other cooking I did in the microwave. Faster, easier and less time involved. This tasted great. Will make this often. Thank you Ashley for what will become a favourate. Spuds don't need to be boring, just really tasty like this recipe.

Pineapple Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
I have had this recipe forever. I had this in Hamilton NZ 20 odd years ago and asked the chef for the recipe. This marinade was / is used for beef steaks. Does have ginger in it which gives it a more balanced flavour over all.

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
This is a very good recipe. But I will say that to add the green oinion's for that length of time is a NO! NO! 30 second's before serving is best. they will then release all the flavour of nice fresh herb's. Oh yes I have made this recipe. It isn't some thing new. Nice to see older recipies coming out once again for our young people.

Minced Pork and Watermelon Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
I have made this twice. Once as written and once with chicken. Also as none of us like pine nut's used almond flake's 1st time and roughly chopped Macadame nut the following. All give a great flavour so you can use these if you wish. This must be prepared and serve'd as quick as can be. Watermelon has a high water content so isn't something that can be ( apart from the making's of the rest of the ingred.) mixed in and kept before serving. Have it ready and just throw it all together. It is a bit of fun. Tastes yummy and fresh. Great for summer. Will make this again and again.

Lemonade Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
I live in Australia. There is no such thing as lenonade cons., here. I used the juice of a large lemon with 1/2 of it's rind grated fine.Left it in the maranade for overnight and most of the next day. Turned out fine. Not sickly sweet like most of your American recipe's are. We who live down under like to taste the food not sugar.

Microwave Raisin Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
This is very easy as I always have a loaf in the feezer. Quick to make when unexpected guest drop in. I would suggest that the lass who had bits of uncooked egg through the dish she take a spoon full of the hot mixture , mix it in with the egg before adding the egg. This witth stop that problem

Onions Baked with Rosemary and Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Thank you. My Mum used to make some thing similar when I were little. This really is a taste from the past. Mum used sprigs of fresh thyme instead of rosemary and stirred the cream in at the last min., to just heat through and avoid spltting.

Merritt's Butternut Squash Gratin

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I have made this for 30 odd years. The 1st part can all be done on the stove top in a large saucepan. Just add the butternut along with the garlic and onions. Cook 5 min.,then add the stock, cover with lid. Bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer till tender.Remove lid turn up heat and reduce liquid till just moist. (don't let it burn). Put in baking dish and add topping. Just use tasty chedder and parm., cheese. The herbs over power the expensive cheese so why waste your money.

Sweet Potato (Kumara) Wedges

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
I come from NZ too (now live in Australia). I used real kumara not the orange sweet potato. Used less flour,1 heaped Tbsp. The mustard complemented the sweetness of the Kumara. Thanks Nikki, a taste from the past.

I doubled this recipe but only used 1 lemon. Also finely grated the rind added it to the sugar and added 2Tbsp custard powder mixed in the milk and cooked it on the stove to form a custard. Let get cold in the fridge, Stired in the juice then added the cream without whipping. Poured it into the icecream maker. Yum!! turned out Delish. I love lemon icecream. This is the best yet.
