I grew up helping my grandma and mom cook from scratch so cooking is definitely in the family. I love to try new things and well, making things from scratch just isn't as convenient as it used to be so tricks tips and time saving recipes are a hit with me, especially working a full time job and a mom to a picky 3 yr old, Not to mention my meat and potato loving bf.
My favorite things to cook
Cake and Teriyaki Beef Strips
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken and Dumplings definitely although I haven't mastered it yet. My elders have always done things homeade and eventually stop using measurements which I love too except it makes it harder to get the recipe down. One side of my family is dessert makers and the other is meal cookers.
My cooking triumphs
Teriyaki Beef Strips, Pound Cake, Any kind of "chip" cookies, Tator Tot Casserole, and many others.
My cooking tragedies
Chicken fried steak (although that is getting better), buttermilk gravy, and the first time I made chocolate mousse (it was really bitter).
