Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2006
This is a delicious and easy dessert. I suggest pressing the crust 1 1\2 " up the sides of the springform pan, and using almond extract instead of vanilla in the crust (goes well with the almonds in the torte). I also slightly cooked the apples in the microwave for 2 min or so, before I mixed them with cinnamon and sugar. Lastly, after the torte cooled, I used a glaze of strained nectarine jam heated and mixed with a tsp of water to give it a nice glossy finish.

Dee's Health Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
This is really good and flavourful bread! I have a bread machine, but (when I have the time) like to make bread by hand...and this recipe was a good choice. It is moist, slightly sweet and so soft on the inside! I cut the recipe in 1/2 and made 3 loaves. I only have one loaf pan, so I made 2 into french bread-style loaves. Turned out great!!

Tomatillo Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2006
After reading the reviews, I decided to add a can of black beans (when I added the tomatillos)to the soup. I also added about 2 teaspoons of cumin and 4 hot peppers instead of 2. The result was a delicious, tangy and (not too)spicy soup!

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2003
This was very good, although I found it less creamy than the butter chicken I'd tried previously in a couple Indian restaurants. The yogurt gives it a bit of a tangy taste...but it was easy and delicious. My guests thoroughly enjoyed it!

Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2003
This was really good, and great for leftovers the next day. But I recommend not adding all the cayenne pepper! Half will do, unless you want it reallly spicy!

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2001
This recipe surprised me- at first when I saw they were non-yeast rolls I thought for sure the cinnamon rolls wouldn't be that great, but I wanted fresh cinnamon rolls in a "jiffy", so I tried the recipe. It turned out GREAT! They were delicious and just as good as yeast rolls. However, I added more cinnamon mixture to make the buns "gooier".Mmmm...

G. T. Cake

This recipe is delicious, but very dense, rich, moist and chocolately. It has a truffle-like texture.

Roasted Red Pepper Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2001
This recipe was ok, however I disagree that it is "full of flavour". The red peppers give it nice, but very SUBTLE flavour. (It needs more seasonings!) Perhaps adding something to both the filling and the bread crumb coating would help (Maybe even the sauce?). Cooking it in vegetable oil on the stove isn't a great idea (I used olive oil). The coating got too brown- I suggest baking it in the oven. Also, the cooking times given were too long. If I had cooked the chicken for 5 min, then 10 min, then another 5 on med-high heat, it would have been severely overdone.
