About this Cook
Having grown up in a home where cooking from 'scratch' was always the m.o. (think Eddie Murphy and his standup routine about 'home-burgers'!!) there has always been someone in my family who makes the best 'something' or another. I like to think my strengths are in taking the freshest herbs, and spices and creating a 'new' something.
My favorite things to cook
My most favorite thing to cook is . . .EVERYTHING!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being a southern gal. . .sweet potato pie, macaroni and cheese, turkey necks, pinto beans, collard greens, corn bread, fried chicken, smothered chicken. . .umm (sorry, my mouth is waterin') pecan pie ( that's pronounced . . .pee-con pie)
My cooking triumphs
My first catered wedding reception; every Christmas Eve dinner, and the smiles I see whenever I make my rum punch, coquito, sweet tea, penne ala vodka, eggplant parm, veal stew, roasted turkey, baked ziti, crab dip and limoncello's.
My cooking tragedies
My first time making spaghetti, without adding any salt or oil to the water.

Pumpkin Oatmeal
FABULOUS!! The kitchen smelled so good! My teenage daughter and elderly mother loved it as well. We don't use rolled oats, only steel cut, so I made the needed changes. Added vanilla almond milk instead of soy (we don't drink soy), crushed almonds and cranberries on top. Mah-velous!!
