This is the quick recipe taught to me by my German grandmother with a few slight differences. We used a whole chicken boiled with bay leaves. Remove chicken and bay leaves and allow chicken to cool a little. While it is cooling, I put two cans of dumplings, each biscuit cut into halves, into the pot and cook without stirring, just push the dumplings back under water occasionally until they are plump and cooked. Add back shredded chicken, salt and pepper to taste. Be sure and buy cheap canned biscuits because they hold up better in the water.
