Ever since the wonders of television, it seems that cooking shows have been bouncing around the airways tantalizing cooks across the world, shows that go back further then I care to remember, The Galloping Gourmet, Jacques Pepin, Julia Childs, Chef Tell and of course The Frugal Gourmet, just… MORE

About this Cook
I am a single 50 year old cook, I am the cook at my hunting club & Fishing Camp. I love the outdoors and cooking outdoors, I get invited to all the parties... and then asked to cook. But I love that, this is a passion for me, Not eating, but cooking for people and watching them enjoy my cooking. A perfect day for me is crappie fishing in the Mobile Delta, cleaning the fish and having a huge fish fry. Golden slabs of Crappie server with homemade coleslaw and hushpuppies, it just don't get any better.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new things, living on the Gulf Coast of Alabama I love to cook seafood, and being born and raised in Dixie, I love cooking southern foods, but also love experimenting with other types of food, recently I have started cooking Chinese... and love it, so much fun using a wok
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas,Thanksgiving. I love an Old traditional Christmas and Thanksgiving, Turkey, and all the fixings with "It's a wonderful life playing on the T.V. all day long. The colder the better with a huge fire burning in the fireplace with family and friends enjoying the holiday with me.
My cooking triumphs
I have been told I cook the best Smoked Duck and smoked chicken wings. My Girlfriend cooked me a dish called "Sea-Shells"... years ago, I fell in love. They are on my recipe site, try them and let me know how you liked them, I have made a few changes, they are so good.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list but I keep trying. At 12 years old I cooked a birthday cake for my mother... the dog would not even eat it, and he was a S#!@ eater. This is a great site to learn, AllRecipes is the best site I have ever joined, tell your foodie friends to join they won't regret it. I have had several of my friends join and they love it.

Roast with Gravy
I made this just like the recipe except I used " Better then Bouillon" with less salt and I used a slow cooker after browning it first, very good, the coffee really made the difference. Very tender, made a great gravy. I served it with sweet peas, mashed potato's and biscuits, talk about comfort food. I will make it again and again, would be a perfect meal for a cold winter's night. Thank you for posting it Laura. If you like shrimp try my "Kevin's Seashells" let me know what you think by reviewing it, but please use fresh shrimp, not canned. Kevin P.S This Roast makes great leftovers... Open Faced roast beef sandwich with Swiss Cheese, Roast and Gravy Noodles, Roast & Gravy Rice. Serve with Pillsbury Corn Biscuits, Oh so good.

Kim's Summer Corn Salad
I'm with you, people change your recipe and then give you 3 stars, changed from a fat based sauce to a vinegar base, it's not even close to your recipe. I made it EXACTLY ! Like you listed, it was very good, fresh and very pleasing on a hot day, plates up nice too. I may add a few green onions next time and reduce the purple onion, just cause I love green onions. But your recipe was perfect! Thank you. If you like Shrimp, try my "Kevin's Seashells" listed on this site, let me know what you think, but if anything please use Fresh Shrimp, caught in the USA, not canned shrimp, ( I can't believe they even make canned shrimp) Ewww! I live on the Gulf Of Mexico, so one throw of the net and I have fresh live shrimp.
