Cranberry Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
I doubt if I'd make this recipe again. I used the almond flavoring. The dough came out too dry. I had to add a tablespoon of water to it to get it to stick together. The cookies stuck to the foil on which I baked them at first; then they stuck to the cookie pan without the foil on the second baking. They came out rock hard. I know biscotti are supposed to be somewhat hard, but mine came out like bricks. They tasted pretty good, but not spectacular.

Turkey Patties

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
These are fast, easy-to-make, and tasty. This is a wonderful recipe. I substituted matzo meal for the bread crumbs (which I couldn't find) and used 1/2 cup of that instead of 1/4 cup because the raw meat mixture seemed kind of soupy.

Portuguese Cod Fish Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
My husband and I both thought this recipe was great. As some others, I used fresh cod (not salted cod) and still liked the way it came out. For those who like a saltier taste and are using fresh cod, just salt between the layers as you put the ingredients into the baking dish. Next time I'll use a larger dish. My 7x11 pan was overstuffed! All of the ingredients were cooked to perfection (not too little/not too much). I was hesitant to use 3/4 cup of olive oil, but - really - that was not too much. Thanks for such a nice recipe - something a little different from what I usually make.

Cranberry Chutney I

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2012
I liked this recipe well enough, but my family did not. I added walnuts, but my son did not appreciate the crunchiness of those. I only added 1/4 cup vinegar but still found that taste overwhelmed the chutney.

Kofta Kebabs

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2012
This recipe was so good that I immeduately threw away a recipe card I had with a different recipe for kofta kababs on it. I thought the spices of yours were perfect. I made mine with ground beef instead of ground lamb, minced the onion instead of grating it, and broiled the kebabs (6 minutes one side, 7 minutes the other side) without skewers, but only forming them into cigars. I doubled your recipe which then successfully served 4 people.

Moo Goo Gai Pan II

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
My husband and I both liked this recipe a lot. It's different than the spicy Chinese food we usually favor. I followed the recipe with the exception of substituting matchstick carrots for the mushrooms and a large slivered red onion for the water chestnuts. I served it on hot rice. Immediately, my older son came to join us for dinner. You may want to double up on the sauce, but I liked how it just coated the vegetables. Oh...and go heavy on the garlic and fresh ginger!

Oriental Cold Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
This recipe is perfect. I just love it!! I usually substitute whole wheat spaghetti, broken into thirds *before* cooking, for the soba noodles - only because those are the noodles I usually have at home. More often than not, I eat this dish warm because I cannot wait for it it cool. It's scrumptious!

Noodle Kugel (Dairy)

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
This recipe was perfect. I used an immersion blender to whip my cottage cheese until smooth. That was so easy! I added 1 cup dark raisins to the cheese mixture before baking. This kugel was scrumptious!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
Oops! I left out some ingredients, but it came out perfect anyway. I skipped the bell pepper, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar. I used chopped spring onions instead of regular onions (the taste is milder). What can I say? Both my husband and I thought this was scrumptious. Next time I'm doubling the recipe!

Out of the Hat Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
I give this recipe 5 stars for ease of preparation and being tasty. I used margarine instead of butter (to keep it parve to serve with chicken). Oops! I forgot to rinse the rice. No problem. It came out fine anyway. This recipe is a keeper. I also printed it out for my daughter to make for her fiance. I loved the idea of using an ice cream scoop to dish out the rice on a bed of greens. I did that, and it looked so pretty!

I made double the sauce as others suggested, and it was way too much. My husband thought the sauce's was flavor "overwhelming.

Mediterranean Lentil Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
This is a nice and very easy recipe. I couldn't wait for it to cool to eat it. The only variance I found with the original recipe is that it took my lentils 25 minutes to cook. My friend, with whom I shared this dish, did not want the lentils to be the least little bit hard.

Asparagus, Potato, and Onion Frittata

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
This was a failure for me because the grated potatoes stuck to and burned on the bottom of my pan. I'll not make this again, but I will say it tasted good and my daughter even liked it. Perhaps if I had started instead with thinly sliced potatoes, the procedure would have gone better. Who knows?

Home-Style Country Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
This is a superb recipe. I changed nothing except used a pear instead of an apple (as that was all I had). My husband who never eats fruti and meat together didn't even know there was fruit *in* his meat. My daughter who doesn't eat turkey (which she doesn't like) ate it. The seasonings are perfect.

Delicious! I smartly decided to double the recipe when I tried it the first time. That was the right decicion. :) By the way, there's no reason not to use the egg yolks as well.

Green Bean Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
The beans never cooked through so I ended up adding some water and steaming them. I wouldn't stir fry the beans this way again, but the sauce was great. I'll save the recipe for the sauce and double it next time. I'll probably roast the beans, though.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

My husband and I thought this recipe was perfect. Beware, though! It has tons of calories from the mayo content and is very salty. We both thought it tasted great and wouldn't alter a thing.
