Brownie Delight

I made this for work and they loved it. I do suggest cutting back on the cream cheese and whipped topping combo, if you use the amount in the recipe it will be to much.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I made this in a pinch, because the one I normally make calls for beer (I was out and it was late). While I still like my original in the bread maker better. This was good. I'm keeping it for a change or if I want to offer a second choice. I also like the fact that it doesn't have beer for when I do make your own pizzas at kids parties. I did let it rise again for 15 minutes on the pan, don't know if it helped. I make two larger individual pizzas and one little one for a five year old.

Apple Pie

My in-laws have made this for years. They make it in the late fall and put it on the porch to cool. I have some in the fridge right now. I might have to go and have some. They can get it in one of the bars where they live in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan.

We used to do this as a kid as well, but only at the cabin (the snow was cleaner) we would use evaporated milk though, it was riche.

Very good and very easy. I served mine over elbow macaroni. Even my 4 yr old liked it.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I made this for dinner, I think next time I'll add some additional spices. The biscuits were way to much, I'll only use a small package next time as well, and it did take at least 2 hours to cook the "dumplings" I do have a tall slow cooker not an oval one, so that might have made a difference.

All Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This was really good and soooo easy. I did take some suggestions and modified it a little bit. I have no idea what kind of apples I used because they were from our tree and they were planted before I moved in. But I used 15 apples, 1 c white sugar 1 c brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice (to lazy to find my ground cloves). I did cook it all night, when I stirred it up in the morning the apple chunks on top got much smaller. I used an electric mixer to smooth it out. I canned it in a hot water bath for 15 minutes (partyly because I'm pregnant and didn't want to worry about what my trees might hold). I got 3 12oz and 3 8oz jars.

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
I'd rate this this a 5 except I added about a tsp of cinnamon, and used chocolate/carmel chips instead of raisins. I had thought about using dried cranberries instead of the raisins anyway. I'll try that next time. I love the chocolate flavor in the dough, not just the chips.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
I really really liked this and so did my husband and 3 yr old daughter. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 was because I didn't have any basil (thought I did) and I took other reviewers suggestions and omitted a lot of the salt and I didn't add sugar. Because there's only 2-1/2 of us, I put it in two 9x9 pans, one was a Glad ovenware. I froze the one in the Glad container. I found by doing this there was enough sauce but I would double the Ricotta there wasn't enough. I used Italian blend shreaded cheese about 12 oz. It turned out good. I didn't add the top cheese to the frozen one, I'll add it when I cook that one. I did have to use about 14 noodles by using the 9x9 pans. No big deal because the normal lasagna box has about 20 noodles. I also just soaked the noodles for 30 minutes like another reviewer suggested. Finally we had to run to Home Depot while the sauce was cooking so I put it on low and it cooked for about 2 hrs total, it was fine.

Maine Venison Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
OK so I haven't tried this recipe yet but plan on it, however I do frequently make stew in the crockpot with our venison. I've taken recently to adding a package of dried brown gravy mix to the crock pot and it somehow thickens up the liquid nicely.

Impossible Coconut Pie I

My mom has been making this for years, I call it Mrs McClure's Coconut pie. She was a neighbor a the cabin that gave my mom the recipe. It's fast and easy. I have cravings for it sometimes and it brings back wonderful memories of my childhood.

Magic Cookie Bars II

I have the same recipe from my mother-in-law. It's my old quick make desert, because it takes no time to put together. I tend to only use chocolate chips, and I do use a whole bag, and it turns out wonderful.

Pani Popo (Hawaiian Coconut Bread)

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
These have a wonderful flavor. I can't rate it to a full five because my silly grocery store didn't have the frozen yeast rolls, so I used frozen bread and just cut it into 12 pieces and rolled it into rolls. I used the same amount of everything else and had a lot on the bottom of the pan, so next time I'll go to a different store and get the right rolls to try again. If I can't I'll just cut down on the liquid. My 2 year old didn't like it but I think that she was expecting a regular roll, not something sweet.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Very good, I used Dark Chocolate cocoa powder because that's what I had. Very chocolatey. I mailed some to my brother in Georgia, so we'll see how they hold up. My Daughter (2), Husband, Mom, and Dad, loved them. However my Nephews (10, 8) and Niece (4) didn't, they're pickier. Will definately make again. I got 5 dozen smaller cookies out of the batch.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Yummy, my Mom had three helpings (she normally doesn't have more than one) and my VERY picky husband had two. Very simple. I followed other suggestions to remove the fat from the juice, shread and put back in. I also served it with the Pani Popo bread, Green Beans, and a salad. Will make this again (probably with a smaller roast.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
My very picky husband asks me to make this recipe often. He even told someone at work and asked me to pass it on. It's nice and simple and I can have it ready to go before I leave in the morning. I have added some extra mushrooms, and put in more beef than called for. The cream cheese stirs in better if cubed first.

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2001
I made these at first for work as a trial. I made a double batch and by the time I came in the next day the second shift had finished the whole lot of them. They are wonderful. Everyone said they "melt-in-your-mount" hence the name. I did find it easier to mix when the Butter was completely melted rather than softened like the recipe says.
