Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
This is WONDERFUL!!! I never made ribs until this recipe since I had no idea how to even go about cooking them. They came out delicious, tender and my husband said they were sensational! The only problem I ran into was not knowing to REMOVE THE MEMBRANE. That is a MUST-DO! If the recipe had adviced me on how to prepare the meat, I would have rated this a 5 star. ***side note*** I also used Sweet Baby Ray's original rib sauce, it was great, but I prefer more of a kick to my sauce. ***UPDATE*** I made these again last night. this time I remembered to remove the membrane. :) I also made Grandpa Dave's Texas Chainsaw BBQ Sauce that I found on this site. The sauce was better than any I've ever tried. It had just enough of a kick to it, but was still mellow enough for my husband's weak tummy. This bbq sauce and ribs recipe will now be in regular rotation in my household!

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I added ALOT of extra seasoning...garlic, season salt, oregano and some secret stuff. My family loved the taste. This chicken wasn't TOO messy, the overall outcome was well worth it, although the wet mix never did become "doughy". I pan fried the breasts and added more dry mix to the top while the bottom was cooking. Then I took a large spoon to scoop oil onto the top of the chicken. This ended up creating a crisp that you would get from KFC. Very good recipe, will definetly do this again. *****not too often, since fried food is NOT the best for my husband or growing kids!****

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I am a true to life macaroni & chesse addict! However, I did not thank this recipe was all that great. Surprising to see how many people rated it so high. I chose to give it a 3 star simply because I have had ALOT better and without all the extra calories and fat content.

Rosemary Chicken with Orange-Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
This was an AMAZING recipe!! My husband and I cooked this together and enjoyed the outcome. We paired this with sauteed garlic asparagus. (even though he burned those) This has become our favorite "romantic dinner" to make after the kids have gone to bed. We give this a 5 star. The only complant is deciding who is going to get to eat the left overs......

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
This was a good basic recipe. I prefer more seasonings. My husband assisted in cooking this, so I added olive oil with the butter to prevent burning. That didn't help. ****PLEASE make sure you have the heat low enough**** My husband learned a valuable lesson......I am always right when I am in my kitchen! Overall a good recipe, great for a family dinner.

Peanut Butter Balls II

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
I wish I would have read the reviewer's suggestions BEFORE I turned this awesome recipe into a disaster. I made a HUGE mess trying to roll gooey peanut butter batter into melted chocolate. Next time I will REFRIDERATE before coating them. In spite of that, the texture & flavor were remarkable! Also, I used chocolate almond bark instead of choco chips....I think it would have been just fine if I could've actually made balls instead of a mess! :)

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This was so easy and tasted amazing! The kids and hubby loved it!! I followed the recipe almost exactly, only adding seasoning salt, garlic and chicken broth. ***Now here's a "mistake" I made that turned out to be THE BEST*** While I was teaching my youngest daughter how to roll the dough into balls, we accidentally put them into the crock pot at the start, instead of waiting 30 minuted till serving time. Once I realized what we'd done(about 5 minutes later) I grabbed a slated spoon and pulled every since dumpling out.....put them in a covered bowl in the fridge....FINALLY 30 minutes before it was done, we added them again. However, they had soaked up alot of the spices and soup/broth that they had been prematurely thrown into. THEY WERE AWESOME, incredibaly seasoned and still a little doughy. PERFECT! So the "mistake" was actually a really good idea, and I figured I pass it along. It's definetly worth a try to soak the dough in the soup mixture before cooking. :)

Warm Crab Dip II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
This was a little bland, def needed more crab meat. This was my first time making ANY type of seafood dish, so it was actually pretty good and easy to make. I will make it again, however I will add more spices and meat to make this a 5 star recipe.

Pasta e Olio

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
AMAZING recipe!! My husband and I enjoyed this dish. It was easy to cook with the time crunch I was in and the spices gave it the "kick" I like in sauces. DON'T change a thing!! It's very good and if you use the right pasta, it's healthy as well.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
I used fresh organic beans and cooked accordingly. I highly recommend using fresh veggies since they seem to retain their crisp texture better than frozen or canned. The cheese was a nice touch to a very healthy, tasty side dish!

Easy Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
I made this for Easter dinner. It was pretty good, not the best I have ever had. I personally think it was the ham itself and not this recipe. My husband and kids LOVED it though. I put it in the crockpot with all the ingredients and soaked it overnight in the fridge.I omitted all the whole cloves and added an extra tsp of ground cloves instead. I also inserted a cinnamon stick into the center of the ham to keep a slight barrier between the top of the crock and the meat. (My ham was floating from the apple cider) Hubby doesn't like orange peel so that was also left out. Overall I'd make this again, however I will add more brown sugar and less maple syrup.

Chocolate Fudge Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
These are a really easy, good tasting recipe. The kids did all the work, although I needed to roll them and place them on the cookie sheet.(the dough ws really greasy) They came out pretty well, I made half of them as directed and the other half rolled in powdered sugar. Both batches were really moist and tasted great!

Wine Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
We did not like this one bit.I am not sure if it was the recipe or my taste buds. It was very heavy and seemed to overwhelm the chicken itself. I will not be making this one again.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
These were phenominal!!!! I followed the recipe for the most part, I omitted cornmeal(I didn't have any)and replaced it with italian bread crumbs. I also added a pinch of cumin and a dash of garlic salt to the breaded coating. I will be making these again, my family enjoyed them and were upset that I hadn't made more! :)

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
VERY DELICIOUS RECIPE!!! My kids loved the smell and taste of the stew. My husband couldn't eat enough! I followed the recipe exactly, but added garlic salt and a tad more beef broth. The cube meat was very, very tender and fell apart in our mouths. I will be making this a regular dish in our home!

I made this for the kids one hot spring afternoon. They were leary of the name...ha ha ha...but were pleasantly surprised at how good these were! It was very quick and easy to make; meanwhile fairly healthy. I used ALL organic ingredients and whole wheat gluten free bread. Delicious!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
AMAZING FLAVOR!!! I even took some over to the neighbors and they requested more. I followed the recipe exactly and made the cookies a little smaller then suggested. The only complaint I recieved was from my dad, who stated the cookies had a weird after-taste. We all agree that it was just his tastebuds since no one else tasted anything other than a moist and scrumptious cookie! :)

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
I made this recipe exact, however I decided to change up the last few dozen. I bake some with oatmeal, others with peanut butter chips mixed in. The reason I did this was to add texture and some more flavor to the basic cookie dough. So far so good. The last batch just came out of the oven and I have sampled every different type. I personally like the ones I added peanut butter chips to. They are DELIOUS! Overall I would give this recipe a 4 star, simply because it was nothing over the top spectacular. Just a very good basic recipe.
