I'm a Puerto Rican-American that loves to cook. I love my Puerto Rican food but I also love to experiment in the kitchen. To me, cooking is an art form and a method of self expression. I garden as much as possible and do as much from scratch as I possible can. I make my own yogurt, ricotta and cream cheese. I can/jar my own jams and jellies. I process meat. I'm looking to get into curing meats but I haven't found the time. I love to fish and hike. I believe that as humans we need to be in touch with nature in order to satisfy our biology and I eat as organic as possible. I love ice cream.
My favorite things to cook
Pernil aka pulled pork, empanadas, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, porterhouse steaks. I like making fresh fruit juices, teas and lemonades.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Puerto Rican and American comfort.
My cooking triumphs
I'm very proud of my pulled pork, macaroni and cheese and tacos.
My cooking tragedies
Baking. I'm working on it though. I made sugar cookies yesterday and they melted in one large cookie. It was horrible. Delicious mistake though.
