Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Made for Thanksgiving breakfast and it was fabulous !!! We almost were too full to eat dinner. This recipe was perfect and not soggy or odd textured at all. Thanks!

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
Followed the exact recipe. The instructions are too laborious. Too many pans for too few results. Tenderloin was a bit bland. Sauce/gravy w/ shallots can be made in far fewer steps. An ok recipe but a bit of a disappointment for over $125.00 of tenderloin!!!

Apricot Brisket

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I followed the directions exactly!!!! Maybe the addition of wine and some other spices would help. The onion soup is not great with this...better to leave the onion soup to roast!

Ida's Lemon Mousse

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Delicious! Use a whisk to mix in the Cool Whip. Will look watery. Make well ahead of time...even overnight. The consistency takes hours to smooth out. If too tart add a bit of Splenda. Great and easy!

Delicious. Add your own veggies. I spiced it up with cayenne pepper. Jalapenos would be great!!! A keeper!!!

Sausage Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Delicious and sooo easy!!! I did double the sausage to 1 lb. Added mini farfalle after it simmered then turned off the soup to let it cook on its own. Delicious. There was virtually no grease from my sausage so trying in crock pot now. May add some kernel corn too.

Bourbon-Mango Pulled Pork

Simple and easy. Do not think the mango pit added anything though. I just pureed some and mixed in for flavor. Delicious!!!

Yeah it is ok....needs a bunch of other stuff to make it more memorable. A citrus fruit or other veggies. Just so so but easy and edible

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
So delicious!!!! Definitely 5 stars. I doubled recipe used 2 lbs sausage. Perfect. You could probably skip the red pepper and just use half hot and half mild. Made a huge family style bowl for 8. Plus leftovers!!!! Could have used even more sausage really. Thanks so much!!!!

Baron's Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
Made exactly as recipe stated. Do not think I would change anything but would have prefered a dusting of sugar on top for a bit of crunch. This is DEFINITELY a cake style cobbler. I liked it but a little crunch would help. Definitely better next day than the day it was made. Not too sweet. Everyone ate it but no one was too crazy about it. Just sort of average.

Vanilla Ice Cream VII

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Fabulous. Dropped the egg yolks to 5 and upped the vanilla beans to 3. Delicious. Stays creamy and almost marshmallow consistency when left out a frig for a few minutes to serve. There is no point to try ANY other recipe...this is the bomb. Was not "custard" like when I dropped the yolks. But may try some time with more. But ice cream perfection !!!!

Cake Batter Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Got too thick and pudding like with cooking. Then froze too quickly. Was more frozen pudding than ice cream. Too much cake batter in this. Sounded good but nah. Recipe followed exactly as written. Will keep looking

Cajun Corn and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
I doubled this recipe. Amounts were perfect except possibly more roux/flour needed. Did not get as thick as I would have liked. Best thickener would have probably been to cook some small cubed potatoes into the recipe. Used fresh jumbo lump crab meat. Definitely a keeper. Would have also liked to see some additional color. Maybe tiny bit of peppers??? Some sharp cheddar cheese???...but then not very bisque like I suppose. But the basic recipe is absolutely delicious. Beware of doubling however. The original recipe makes a lot of soup. A keeper for certain !!!

Have made this for over 10 years. Both with and without the egg. More cake like with it. Never added sugar as it is plenty sweet. I will try mexican corn for color on occassion. Turkey day no fail classic !!!

Pork Tenderloin with Balsamic Plum Reduction

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Oh dear God this is delicious!!!! I am lazy so used a can of plums with pits removed. Tiny bit of the juice. Did 3 tblspns balsamic /2 of honey and 2 of brown sugar. Super easy to reduce and chop in pan with spoon. I like it thicker. A nice addition might be a touch of clove spice. Outrageously good sauce. However 145 is really rare pork per my oven. Which is new and state of the art. Prefer 155. A keeper
