Marty's Loosemeat Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
An ok recipe. Needs a lot of seasoning, as others have suggested, to give it flavor.

World's Best Bacon Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
This was very good, but I put it in a small crock pot to keep it warm during a party and it got a little curdly-looking. It was still tasty, just not the most appetizing to look at. Next time I'll try oven-baking it. I added dried minced onion, garlic powder, dried parsley, and hot peppers to give it some extra zip.

Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
This was fantastic. I made homemade noodles in the pasta maker, and they turned out fabulous. I made the chicken soup base the day before, and then made the rest the night we ate it. (For a person who works for long hours, it's a lot of prep to do it all in one night.)

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
This was definitely a good recipe; I have no complaints. I'm not exactly sure what made it any better than any other pumpkin bread I've made in the past, though. It's ordinary, not extraordinary.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
My non-chili eating husband tried this and loved it (though really, he would probably eat anything spicy with bacon and beer). It was delicious.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
Made this for my book club, and shared leftovers with co-workers. Everyone loved it. I used a packet of brown gravy with water instead of beef broth. I also added green onions and soiur cream to the mashed potatoes.

Coconut Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
Took this to work and topped with the Vanilla Glaze (substituting coconut extract for the vanilla) from this site. It was phenomenal and got rave reviews from my co-workers.

Vanilla Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
Excellent on the Coconut Pound Cake found on this site. I substituted coconut extract for vanilla because of the cake. It was very tasty. Next time I will need to sift the powdered sugar, as it did turn out a bit lumpy.

Basil Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Yummy! This is an excellent soup. I used fresh tomatoes and fresh basil from my garden. No need for sugar when you use fresh tomatoes. I was inspired by Lindsay's advice and used 3/4 c. half and half and 1/4 c. milk instead of the heavy cream. I also only used 3 T. butter and added more fresh basil and a few shakes of dried. Delicious!

Pie Iron Tacos

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
We made these on a camping trip and served them with sour cream and salsa. While it's a good recipe and a nice break from typical camping food, next time I'd probably add peppers or use a spicier taco seasoning to give it a little more heat.

Lime Cilantro Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
This does taste a lot like the rice in Qdoba's burritos. I used a rice cooker and we ate it as a side with the "Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo" (yum!) from this site. I thought the rice was a fresh, tasty, and simple side; my husband thought it was good, but didn't feel it was flavorful enough to be a stand-alone side dish. Perhaps using broth instead of water would give the rice a little more flavor.

Salsa II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
This was a great recipe! I halved the recipe using fresh produce from my garden. In addition, I used half the amount of jalapenos, roasted them, and used almost all of the seeds. It was the perfect amount of heat.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
The shrimp were good...not "oh, wow, these are the best shrimp I've ever put in my mouth" good, but tasty nonetheless. I took the suggestion from another poster and only used 2 T. olive oil. I also didn't have fresh basil, so I substituted dried. I doubled the cayenne pepper, and my husband and I still felt it could have used more. 8/6/11: Made it again and used ketchup instead of tomato sauce (didn't want to open a whole can), sweet chili sauce, and dried hot peppers from the local farmer's market. Still not 5-star amazing, but really good!

A tasty recipe. I used ranch dressing instead of bleu cheese and omitted the butter, and it still came out great.
