Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
I made these for a party and got rave reviews. They were very easy to make and very tasty. The only issue I had is that when I followed the recipe for the frosting, I got more of a crumb topping than a smooth frosting. So I just added about a teaspoon of milk and it smoothed right out. The frosting also gets better if you apply it to the brownies while warm as the recipe suggests. Overall, a good recipe.

Easy Apple Crisp

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
I have to admit, I didn't think this would work out because the apples just had water on them, and usually when I make an apple pie, I mix the sugar and spices in with the apples. But magically, the apples were sweet and spiced. The topping was pretty sweet, so I may use a touch less sugar next time, but my boyfriend absolutely loved it as it was.

Pear Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
I started with kind of mushy pears, so I was worried this would be mushy and not good, but the custard firmed up the whole thing and the pears gave a really nice flavor. I served it on Thanksgiving, and got rave reviews. This recipe is a keeper!

Rosemary-Infused Watermelon Lemonade

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
I LOVED this. It was so unique and refreshing and a bit floral. If it were just me, I'd give it 5 stars. However, I made it for a party, and only about half my guests liked it. So, I don't know if I'd make something this unique for a mixed crowd again. But, I will thoroughly enjoy the half pitcher that's left from the party.

Warm Belgian Endive and Pine Nut Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
I was given some endive, and I had no idea what to do with it. First I just chopped some up in a salad, but I didn't like it that much. This warm version was much better! The dressing is also very tasty, but the dish is a bit rich overall, so it's good to eat in small portions.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
My boyfriend loved this, and asked me to come up with a red velvet strawberry version. I think it would be possible to do. I also really liked it, but it was more of a cheesecake than a pie, and I'm not a huge fan of cheesecake. But that's a personal preference, and overall, this was a really good recipe.

Rice Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
We have no food allergies, so we make these with normal wheat flour. But this is a really tasty way to use up rice from dinner the night before. Plus, we are always running out of eggs, so it's a great breakfast option that uses stuff we normally have on hand.

Bean Burgers

They were really tasty. My carnivorous boyfriend declared that this recipe was a keeper. They were time consuming, but as long as you know what you're in for, it's not too bad. The recipe is a bit big and not easily scaled down, but thankfully nothing has to be exact.

Yum! Really tasty and perfect for a winter day. We crushed some tortilla chips on top and added a dollop of guacamole and sour cream.

The addition of berries and cream is essential to lighten up the richness of the chocolate. It was heavenly!

I melted some cheddar cheese on top before sprinkling the cinnamon. It turned out quite delicious.
