I grew up in the 50's and 60's and Mazola is a a brand that our family grew up with! Life was simpler back then, I was raised in the South so traditional foods are often fried. Back then we didn’t know much about cholesterol and how eating healthier would affect us later in Life…or maybe we… MORE

About this Cook
As some know(thank you for your support)my Hubby passed away in April 2011. I sold the home in KY the day before I moved down to Florida, I was such a lucky duck and so thankful. Down here in Central Coast Florida since late Aug. 2012. I still cook and bake and its so good to be around family again!
My favorite things to cook
There is just one of me but I do cook dinner almost every night. I love easy dishes on the nights I really don't feel like cooking. Grandmommy Capps lived in Rocky Mount, NC....Sundays were a holiday! Dinner was at 2pm. Leftovers were snacks later(dark thirty)....she was a great biscuit and piemaker. Being the oldest of 23 grandchildren, I was the BEST dishwasher! Hand wash everything in a washpan! I've never heard of it??? You need one to play as your wash sink, and then you rinse in the kitchen sink.....It was air dry either....someone had to dry ALL the dishes! I love my Sis for that!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have ham, blackeyed peas, collard greens, and corn muffins on New Year's Day for good luck! Peanut blossums are my favorite cookie for Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
"Banana Crumb Muffins" were delicious & gorgeous, looked store-bought!
My cooking tragedies
I have left the neck(in the bag) in the turkey in the past 5 years! I should know better! Always rememember to check BOTH ends of the turkey before you cook it! I'm Blonde...Sheesh!!

Slow Cooked Chipotle Chicken
LOVED THIS FLAVOR! Easy crockpot recipe...I maybe would add only one chipotle chili next was pretty spicy but absolute delicious! Served with white rice and, lettuce, fresh tomato and avocado slices. Very pretty dish! Thank you Mazola!

Grandma Rita's Soft Butter Rolls
LOVE these rolls...I don't change a thing...but I do put them in my bread maker on dough setting. So easy! Thanks, Lela! I have made these 5 times already and I am "yeast impaired"...they always come out PERFECT!

Hot Chicken Dip
I love this recipe! I used Johnsonville hot Italian links (remove the casing) so I did switch proteins but this base is so tasty! I made my own taco chips in a frydaddy....quick and delicious!
