GrandMommy's coffeepot
As things change from year to year, one thing that is stable in our lives are our "Family Traditions". It can be the little things like the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Fourth of July picnics and fireworks, raking leaves in Fall together, Santa Claus or.... Thanksgiving....the celebration of Family and Friends! As Marley and I are continueing the Lepp Family tradition to be here in Charleston, SC for Blue crab and steamed shrimp on Thursday and Turkey Day on Friday, it is so great to be here a little early to help in all the preparations this year. You know....defrosting the freezer for Uncle Mark , shopping, cleaning, vacuuming, washing and making beds, getting out all the historic family fancy dishware, making out the menu together, shopping, gathering all the recipes.....all so much fun when you do it all together! Did I mention....Shopping??? Wednesday (tomorrow) all us gals usually run around and go thrift shopping while we pick up last minute grocery items. Fun, fun, fun! Mark has a gal friend who set up a nice sewing machine for us this year, too, so who knows what we could all do with a few dollars AND a power tool!

It was kinda of fun this morning to wrack my brain and try to remember how to make a pot of percolated coffee..."1 tsp coffee per cup of water" (lines on the inside of pot) seemed to come to mind....so I assembled the contractraption, plugged her in, and took Marley outside for a walk. To my surprise....20 minutes later....it's tastes like real coffee! Yes, that is me in the reflection of the coffee pot....I'm the one in the red robe!
Be thankful for the little silly things in life....like Grandmommy's coffeepot...because I'm pretty sure that was her voice I heard in my head on how to make coffee....I haven't done it in 30 years! From our extended family to yours....Happy Thanksgiving! Remember to establish your own little traditions, no matter how insignificant that little thing may seem....done year after year....its a Tradition!
Stay safe in travel,
 hug and kiss your sweeties,
Love, Cindy
and Marley

Happy Thanksgiving Miss Cindy. What a wonderful tradition your family has. I so wish we could join you. Nothing like inviting oneself to a shindig :) I love the percolator. My mom had one just like it for years and that percolator saw many a Thanksgiving and served us well. We folks from the Pacific Northwest take our coffee VERY seriously.

Thank you Cindy for reminding me to still be thankful. I was feeling a bit bummed about doing all the same work for T-day for only the DH & I. For some reason your coffeepot made me think back to the time I got nominated to make all the pumpkin pies despite not knowing how. It brought me a smile! Happy Thanksgiving to you and you enjoy those thrift stores :)(:

Happy Thanksgiving to the Lepp family! Your blue crab is probably closer to what was served at the original meal and oh, so delicious! Travel safely.

About Me
Down here in Central Coast Florida since late Aug. 2012. I still cook and bake and its so good to be around family again!
My favorite things to cook
There is just one of me but I do cook dinner almost every night. I love easy dishes on the nights I really don't feel like cooking. Grandmommy Capps lived in Rocky Mount, NC....Sundays were a holiday! Dinner was at 2pm. Leftovers were snacks later(dark thirty)....she was a great biscuit and piemaker. Being the oldest of 23 grandchildren, I was the BEST dishwasher! Hand wash everything in a washpan! I know....you've never heard of it??? You need one to play as your wash sink, and then you rinse in the kitchen sink.....It was fun.....no air dry either....someone had to dry ALL the dishes! I love my Sis for that!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have ham, blackeyed peas, collard greens, and corn muffins on New Year's Day for good luck! Peanut blossums are my favorite cookie for Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
"Banana Crumb Muffins" were delicious & gorgeous, looked store-bought!
My cooking tragedies
I have left the neck(in the bag) in the turkey in the past 5 years! I should know better! Always rememember to check BOTH ends of the turkey before you cook it! I'm Blonde...Sheesh!!
