Made this twice and everyone loved it! The second time I reduced the butter per other suggestions and I had trouble with it sticking to the pan. However, I also stirred it less that time. Either way, I'm sticking with the original amounts and never making it when I'm home alone because I would eat it all! Personally, I like it soft and chewy so cook it less.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

I had a hard time rating this because I made cupcakes with it and they didn't rise correctly! That has never happened to me before so I reall have no idea why. My oven is awful so that could be it (but I make cupcakes/muffins fairly often so why would it happen to these?). Anyway- the taste was fabulous!! I filled the sunken middles with half a strawberry and covered with homemade vanilla frosting. Yummy! And I think people thought I did the strawberry-middle thing on purpose ;)

Simple White Cake

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Taste is awesome, really easy to make, no problems with consistency (I used whole milk)-- BUT, the color is really bad. One guess what 2nd grade boys thought it looked like (especially out of a star tip on a cupcake)! It made enough for 30 cupcakes with leftovers and a messy pastry bag.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Subbed applesauce/oil for the butter (because I was out!), doubled everything except the sugar and used all brown sugar, about 2 1/2 cups. So good! Made mine big and they were a tad crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside!

Hot Spinach and Artichoke Salad

I did not like this at all, sorry. Hubby did- but then changed his mind when it came to leftovers and figures he just must've been really hungry:) Anyway, I think I should've just used my good ingredients in a more classic salad.

Hot Seafood Ramekins

Sorry, but no one here liked these. Very little flavor. We did leave out the shrimp but I don't think that alone would fix it. I think it's a great idea and I want to play around with it to find something more flavorful...

Delicious! I adapted it once for a slow cooker but it was not as good so I will stick to the stove-top. Also, I leave out the wine completely.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Loved it! Used 2 cans black beans and seasonings suggested in author's comment in lieu of taco seasoning. I could smell the beer when I took the lid off but not taste it at all (I hate beer LOL).

Sprinkles Muffins

I was trying to give it 3 and 1/2 stars because it was really pretty. But the flavor was just "okay". If I'm going to spend time baking from scratch, I want the result to be stellar! It was a good recipe for kids, though- they enjoyed helping and eating :)

Pumpkin Pancakes

I can't believe it- but all 6 of my kids loved these! I wanted to use whole-wheat flour but I didn't and I'm glad; I think they would've been too heavy. Might try half and half next time... (We ate with strawberry all-fruit to top them)
