Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This is a new favorite! I actually found a huge bag of prewashed kale leaves at the store and used them so it was terribly easy! I made them last night with dinner. My husband texted me as he was leaving work tonight "are you making kale chips tonight?" My son and I loved it too. Great new way to get veggies into our meal!

Antipasto Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
This was sooooo good! I made a huge bowl of this for a party and it was just about gone. At first people took small portions, but they soon came back for more once they tasted it! The initial recipe does not make very much so at least double it (but reduce the oil).

Beer Braised Irish Stew and Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
Excellent recipe! I used Guiness and some extra seasonings on the meat. I also simmered it with the lid on for several hours and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender! I took this to a St Patrick's Day dinner and it was a huge hit! Next time I am going to save myself a huge amount of time by buying stew meat that is already cut up! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This is the best chocolate cake ever! It is soooo easy too! I was worried about the coffee in it but you can't taste that at all -I learned that it just intensifies the chocolate taste. I also use decaf now because my young children ate some the first time I made it (not thinking about the coffee in it) and they were up until midnight!!! Anyway, I am growing famous for this cake and the filling/frosting that I use on it. People swoon that it is better than the really good cake bakery we have in town! Now that is a compliment! Thanks sooooo much for sharing this recipe. Also note that the batter is extremely thin -it's supposed to be. Part of the magic is that it grows and grows into the perfect cake! DO NOT overbake this. I see some reviewers have and ranked this recipe low. Follow the directions. Use the toothpick test -not a wiggle test.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Easy, quick and yummy! I use this as a side dish sometimes instead of mashed potatoes with a roast. So, just drain and add the home-made gravy! My husband loves them!

Sarah's Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Soooo easy to make and delicious too! I have been using this recipe for years and it is high time to review it! I make it according to the directions, but do not blend it. I use an onion chopper that I have so everything gets thrown in and is diced together instead of making it smooth. I use a smaller sized Jalepeno pepper and it is the perfect amount. This recipe is just too easy!

This is one of my favorite drinks! My friend and I like the original Kahlua with Absolute Vanilla vodka and cream (or milk). Yum!

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Delicious and sooo easy -use more preserves than called for though. I have also used jalepeno jelly (it is green for Christmas!) instead of apricot and it was so incredibly good. It was not hot or spicy -it tasted sweet and paired nicely with the brie.

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
We Loved these! I did change it a little bit by using 1 TBS olive oil per 2 lbs meat and added 1 TBS worschestire sauce for 2 lbs of meat. I also used fresh basil leaves, chopped.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
The best guac ever! Every time I have made it there are NO leftovers and I double it! I do add only half of the lime juice the recipe calls for after the first time I made it. Also note that by adding the pits from the avocados back into the guac -it keeps it from turning brown so quickly! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS RECIPE! My friends thank you as well!

Honey-Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Yum! I haven't eaten so much chicken in one sitting in a long time! My husband and 3-yr old love it too. I did not have an onion on hand so I used some chives instead. In the middle of baking the chicken I added some corn starch to thicken up the glaze so that it stayed on the chicken instead of running off of it while trying to baste it. I served this over rice. 5 stars for taste and for how easy it is!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Great recipe and easy too! I used my left-over ham from Easter - perfect! I did not have bouillon granules so (guessing) I used 2 bouillon cubes instead. I also used celery flakes instead of diced celery because that is what I had on hand. It is a wonderful recipe. Thanks so much for it!

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
This recipe not only gets 5 stars for the fantastic taste, but also for the ease of it. I will be sharing this recipe with everyone! Thank you for my favorite new pork tenderloin recipe! For people who like more gravy - double the wine/gravy mixture. I served it over mashed potatoes with the main dish. The only change I made was that I used minced garlic instead of garlic powder. My family loved it!

Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
Loved this! I passed along the recipe to my sister too and it was a hit in her family. For all of you omitting the wine in the recipe you are missing out - the sauce really makes this recipe what it is! If you want a healthier version of this use less margarine and low fat cheese - do not omit the wine or garlic!

Chicken Enchilada Soup III

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
Loved this soup, and it is so easy to make! I made tortilla strips to garnish it by cutting up corn tortillas into strips and frying them (letting them dry on paper towels). I made a double batch of it for a party where someone else made a pot of soup as well. My pot of soup was almost gone while hers was still full at the end of the party! It was a hit!

Beautiful Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
My husband and I totally loved this salad. I did tweak it and used green onions instead of a red onion and used honey-roasted pecans instead of almonds. The contrasting flavors really went well together. My husband initially eyed it up with a suspicious look on his face. Then he ate it and wanted more! All I can say is YUM! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
Awesome recipe thanks for sharing! I did use only 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of pepper. My husband agreed it was the best batter ever! I also used it for onion rings. Just slice up an onion into rings -separate them and dip the onion rings in flour and then dip in this batter. Fry til golden brown. YUM!!!!

Cream of Artichoke Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
This was a fantastic recipe even though I didn't use fresh artichokes. I used a can of artichokes (in water) and so I had to add 2 extra cups of chicken broth and omitted the 2 c. of water. I used less cream too. I also added 4 shredded chicken breasts to make it more hearty for my husband. It tasted soooooo good. I would use it to supplement a main course or add chicken to use as the main course. I have already shared this recipe with 2 people and plan to use it for a neighborhood get-together soon. My son and husband and I all give it 5 Stars!

Grilled Venison Backstrap

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
Let me just say that I have never eaten so much venison in one sitting! It was the best I have ever eaten. My husband is the one who has been eating venison since he was 2, and he told me that it was the best venison flavoring he has ever had!!! It blew my mind because he is a lover of venison and has had it so often throughout his life. I did use cubed steak instead of the tenderloin because that is what I had in the freezer, and it turned out wonderfully! What a wonderful taste for such a simple recipe!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
I used 1/2 the hot sauce it called for and it was the best taco meat EVER! We used it for tacos, nachos, burrittos and even while camping, I took some that I had froze and used it in pudgy pie makers over the fire for a cheese and taco meat pudgy pie sandwhich. Everyone whom I have made it for has loved it. Anyone who gives this a low score for too much "heat," use your noggin and notice that if it uses that much HOT sauce then of course it is going to be very HOT. Just cut it back to your liking.
