About this Cook
Just got a newly remodeled kitchen, so I'm trying out all sorts of wonderful new recipes and flavors. There is nothing I love better than inviting over a crowd of friends and relatives and cooking up a storm!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook homey, filling, healthy meals for my family and tasty treats for friends and relatives.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Love it when my kids, now almost all grown, join me in the kitchen to cook and sample.
My cooking triumphs
A weekend of meals for 25 people, all friends and family, mostly from far away.
My cooking tragedies
Where to start! You can't learn to cook without a few. Lets see, if you stick a teflon coated skillet of oil on to heat and forget to check it for too long, it IS possible for the teflon to let go from the pan and *poof* all over the house, along with a nice coating of darkened oil. That's really fun to scrub off the walls, let me tell you!

Blue Cheese and Walnut Wafers
I only gave it three stars because not everyone favors bleu cheese. If you like it, you'll like these. I tasted the dough and thought it needed a little kick, so replaced the salt with 1/2 teaspoon garlic parsley salt and a few twists on the crushed red pepper grinder. Then I sprinkled the cracker tops with just a touch of sea salt and popped them in the oven. I guess know your audience because I came home from my party with an empty plate, I think they licked it for crumbs! Btw, slicing was aided by using a sharp knife and dipping in warm water between every few slices. (; These would also be good sprinkled with dill or savory or any spice you love with your bleu cheese.

Rum or Bourbon Balls
If I eat a few more, I will happily give this recipe six or seven stars....ha ha! These are great with white chocolate substituted for the semi sweet and egg nog coffee flavoring (I used about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon of strong flavoring) plus the usual rum for inebriated egg nog balls (: If you'll be sharing them with kiddies or those who don't imbibe, jyst leave off the rum. Or make the recipe as listed, substituting 1/2 cup very strong coffee or espresso for the rum and roll in a little cocoa and golden sugar. Delish!
