Microwave Spiced Nuts

Just made these, they turned out awsome, I did add a bit of salt and then I see one other reviewer did the same, i just like the sweet, salty it gives them. I did a cup each of pecans, walnuts, and toased almonds... I thought for christmas the variety was nice.

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

this is a great recipe and we think it is just like the cafe' Dumonde in New Orleans... we had them years ago and this is the first try making them at home Im so glad I chose this recipe... A few tips: I used my deep fryer, that way my oil stayed the right temp and I never had to cool down the pan and readjust the heat. I also used a pie cutter with a rippled edge to cut the diamond shapes and that gave them a very pretty edging. The only problem with these Beignets is you can not stop eating them. they are well worth trying. I was going to mix up half the recipe but I'm glad I went with the whole thing because the dough stores well and you can have them whenever you want them . very very YUMMY! I think you could squeeze some grape or raspberry jelly, even vanilla cream filling in the middle for a different twist and make a delicious jelly, or cream filled doughnut, maybe ill try that next time for a whole new spin on these already delish treats.

Cream Puffs

this is the exact recipe that I have used for years, a few tips..... before you place them in the oven spray them with a bit of cold water and also as you are placing them in the oven give the oven a light spary of water... I'm not sure what it does but my mother always did it and they always puffed wonderfully... also start them in a hot oven 425 degrees and then lower temp after 15 minutes to 375 if you use these few tips they will never fail.

Chocolate Praline Layer Cake

Wow,..... this has been the Birthday cake in our family since it won the pillsbury bake off..... a tip i use, when spooning the cake over the praline sauce, spoon first around the edge of the pan to seal, then fill in the middle, that way none of the delicious caramel will escape.... never put any wax paper or parchment on the bottom of the pans. If youwant you can substitute whipped topping for the real stuff, have done it both ways and the topping is actually less calories so you may have two peices....Yummmmmy.

Chop Suey

this is very close to the chop suey recipe that my mother made me for years... and now my children make it for my grandchildren... you might want to add water chestnuts, and you can also use boneless skinless chicken breasts. we serve it with oriental crispy noodles, over rice

Glazed Almonds

O.K. what did I do wrong? the sugar did not coat the almonds and I did everthing that was explained. they are tasty but the sugar did not turn to anything like a syrup. I felt like i should have used water to make it a little syrupy... they are good but not what I expected.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

I just finished making these doughnuts, and "OH MY" this is the recipe that I have been looking for, for years. they are terrrific and easy. I hesitate to pay the high price for my favorite doughnuts, so I just buy on occasion, but after making these I no longer have to wait..... I do agree with one reviewer who said they could be a little sweeter but I think the glaze does just fine... They sure don't help the waisteline but they are worth every last calorie. Just a note to those who buy yeast in bulk[ as I do] 4 1/2 teaspoons is the exact amount of yeast to use, and also I sifted my flour [as I always do], and that added to the light texture. I think i'll go have another doughnut now .....Tah Tah.

Cream of Coconut Cake

I have made this cake at least three times in the past months and "Oh My"... it is so moist and really terrific...It is even better the next day, you can definately make ahead of the day you wish to serve it....I put coconut flavoring in both the cake and the frosting [about one teas in each] also I baked it in two round cake pans...."yummy"

Charleston Breakfast Casserole

I made this for christmas breakfast and it was wonderful, I added some chunks of cream cheese ontop of the bread before I poured in the egg mixture, also put a dab of cheyene pepper to the mix.... I doubled it and it took along time in the oven, so I sped up the process and zapped it for 15 min and the Microwave and it didn't hurt a thing it was loved by all... I'm making it again this weekend for out of town company..
