Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2001
Well, I made these for my nieces and my nephew as a surprise because they love bagels. They enjoyed them. However, I'll tell you the truth: this isn't exactly the world's easiest recipe. There are several different steps involved, and it does take a lot of your time. The finished result is delicious though. My bagels didn't quite look as perfect as the store-bought kind; however, they were delicious nonetheless. I would recommend this recipe to anyone who loves bagels and has a bit of free time. BTW, I am 14 years old and love to cook. :)

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

They're good. A basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. In my opinion, however, they use way too many chocolate chips.

Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2001
Wonderful! However, I agree that it should say one 8 oz. package of cream cheese instead of one 3 oz. With a 3 ounce package, you can't even taste the cream cheese! Thank goodness I test-tasted it though! I used it to frost Lite Carrot Cake. It was a smashing combination! It was still super rich even though I used Neufchatel Cheese. YUMMY! I would make it again, but I'm afraid I will eat it all.... :(

Lite Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2001
I am fourteen years old and this was my first time ever making a cake from scratch. I made it when I made dinner for my family. They absolutely loved it! At first, I was a bit apprehensive, because some low-fat products aren't very good. But this was wonderful! I must admit my favorite part was when I told them that it was a low-fat cake after they had finished eating it. They were shocked! It tasted even better the second day. It was still wonderfully moist. My sister also put it in the freezer. It was sinful! I frosted it with Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting (found on this website) using Neufchatel Cream Cheese. It was so delicious and everyone loved it!!! P.S. I also added a SMALL amount of finely chopped pecans, approximately 1/2 cup or so. It would of been fine without them, though.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2001
YES!!!!!!!! I took these brownies to a family party today, and EVERYONE who tried them LOVED them, even my picky cousins who never eat anything. They were absolutely delicious and very moist. My cousin ate about six or seven of them, and almost refused to put them on the table to share. I am now required to bring these to every family party. A few notes: I substituted margarine for the butter, because we didn't have enough butter, and they were still wonderfully moist. I doubled the recipe and used a 9' by 13" pan, and only had to bake them for 25 minutes. And, finally, I was really disappointed to read the reviews complaining about the frosting. I thought it was wonderful: not too sweet, and the honey added a nice flavor. Everyone who tried them agreed with me. They were AWESOME!!! I will look no further for a brownie recipe. Thanks Angie, you made everyone think that a 14 year old can be a really good cook! One more thing: I found the icing to be too stiff, as I had anticipated, due to the lack of liquid in it. Those of you who have ever made frosting before know to add some milk to make it to a spreadable consistency. True, it might not of been stated in the recipe, but one can infer that. It's not that difficult to figure out! :) What I did was add about two tablespoons of CHOCOLATE MILK!!! Yummy!!!!!!

Quick Pasta Sauce

This is quick and easy, yet doesn't taste "store bought". You may consider adding some seasonings, such as basil or oregano or some vegetables to make it more hearty.

These are so easy to make and so good! Perfect warm with melted butter with a main dish, or with cinnamon and sugar or honey as a dessert. Next time, I will consider adding some flavoring. Wonderful! A terrific change of pace. I don't know why more people don't try these!
