I love making food! I host large dinner parties and cook for friends. I like to come up with a general theme and plan a menu that suits it. New recipes are fantastic. Even though I am usually cooking on a budget, I am always enthusiastic about good quality, especially when it comes to my meat.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking just about anything as long as it's interesting and tastes good. Most often, I find myself making stews and pies. Some of my favorite dishes include fresh tomato basil pasta, peach pie, penne a la vodka, and Guinness beef stew.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorites include tacos, biscuits, popovers, and buttermilk pancakes. No one can beat my sister's cinnamon rolls, except for maybe me. My whole family enjoys cooking as much as I do, and every Christmas my sister plans and prepares a fancy dinner. It's a veritable Babette's Feast.
My cooking triumphs
Twice I have hosted a five course dinner for 16 people. The menus were as follows:
French Pea Soup,
Lime Butter Beet Salad,
Balsamic Glazed Salmon served with Persian Dill Rice,
(this is actually the perfect meal, colorful, complimentary flavors, classy).
Roasted Pear Salad,
Black Bean Soup,
Eggplant and Walnut Gravy Pouch,
Margarita Ice Cream.
I'm also a pro at crème brulée.
My cooking tragedies
Last minute meringues. Don't do it.
