Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
The sauce recipe ought to be printed separately in Side Dish. I did not make the meat, but the sauce was great on baked potato.

Hermits with Wine

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
Wonderful cookies! I am not usually fond of soft cookies or raisins, but these are good. I soaked my raisins in just enough wine to cover them, (3/4 cup instead of 2 cups), and soaked them overnight. If you get the raisins that are moist packed just for baking you will need even less wine to soak. I cut the cinnamon back to 2 tsp, but 2 1/2 tsp would have been fine. I used lemon extract and no vanilla. I would make these again.

Veggie Lasagna Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2003
Reasonably good. A little more healthy than normal lasagna and so a little less satisfying.

Daddy's Molded Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2003
Good. The kids would not eat it. My husband and I liked it, but it is too rich to eat a lot of and it makes LOT. I would make it again when there are more people to share it.

Even without avacodo and cilantro this was very good with nacho chips.

Flying Saucers

You MUST ADD FLOUR to this recipe for it to turn out! Then it is rather good. Without flour the cookies melt across the pan into a continuous, thin, fragile layer. 1 cup of flour added with the oats is sufficient to make the cookies turn out a normal cookie thickness and diameter. I did substitute butter for the shortening, maybe this thinned the cookies a bit, but the substitutions list on this site says they can be interchanged and I doubt the shortening would make such a large difference.

Cranberry Sauce Chicken I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2003
Good. This makes a lot. Cut the meat in half. Make the full amount of sauce if you want to have some extra for your rice or potatoes.

Kraut Bierocks

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2003
Very Good. I split the recipe in half and made half with sauerkraut and half with cabbage. Both were good. I recommend increasing the amount of shredded cabbage though because it wilts down a lot. I did cut the amount of salt by half and the pepper by half. Velveeta is hard to shred so I cubed it and it melted in nicely. I used turkey Italian sausage and ground sirloin. The stuffing was moist without being greasy. It makes a lot so I froze some and I'm looking forward to eating it again soon. For those who haven't made bread, the shortening should be melted, cooled to lukewarm, and added to the yeast and water mixture before the flour. I will make this again.

Ki See Ming

Very good. It didn't need bread or rice to be a complete meal. This is the sort of thing you like to have again and again. The sauteed cabbage was good prepared this was, not bitter.

Amaretto Mousse Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2002
The amaretto was too strong. Since no one else in the house would eat it I had too much and this further reduced my opinion of it.

The honey is not necessary if you dont want it. Pretty good. Reminded my husband of sardines packed in mustard.

Million Dollar Cookies

Reviewed: May 21, 2001
Very tasty. I used butterscotch chips and white chocolate chips. I increased the amount of chips because it sounded low, but I was wrong, I wouldn't use any more chips than recommended next time. You can't tell by looking or by tasting that there is any oatmeal.

Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli

Reviewed: May 6, 2001
This makes a lot. I recommend scaling to 4 servings and then decreasing the pasta even more to 6 ounces. The chopped fresh parsley was not just for color, it adds an important touch to the flavor, so don't leave it out. I will make it again.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

I decreased the peanut butter to 1/4 cup. I could still taste the peanut butter, but other family members who did not know about it did not realize it was in there.

Very tasty. I also split the rolls into thirds. I used rolls which are packaged 8 into a 16 oz roll. I will make these again soon. I did have some filling left over.

Cheesy Creamed Spinach Casserole

The first time I tried this I was hungry and loved it and ate several servings. The second time it didn't seem so great anymore. It is worth making once. The cheddar is important to the flavor.

Spinach Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2001
I really liked this. My elementary kids didn't want to try it based on appearance but my toddler liked it. I found Knorr Lemon Herb Pasta Mix 1.6 oz and McCormicks Lemon Herb Chicken Mix 1/1 oz in the store. I was glad I read the reviews to find out about these because I cannot find the soup mix either.
