Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2014
I've been using this recipe for a few years now and it has definitely spoiled me!! It's the ONLY sangria I'll drink--better than anything I've ever had in a restaurant and better than any other recipe I've tried. I'm always disappointed when I try other sangrias because they just pale in comparison since this one has so much flavor and complexity. I typically use blackberry brandy and a merlot and I don't like it sweet, so I skip the sugar. It's definitely better the second day, so if I'm doing it for a party or something I make sure to make it ahead. Thank you so much for this HJACOBY :)

Chunky Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Delicious!! I used about 1 1/2 tsp of salt free garlic herb seasoning and stirred in 4oz cheddar at the end. I could eat this every day.

Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese II

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Beyond mushy noodles (even though I boiled AND cooked for less time than recommended), not at all creamy, and pretty bland, aside from the salty flavor. I won't even try to alter this recipe to make it better; it needs too much work.

Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Best taco dip I've ever had!! I also went with 2 cans of beans and yes you have to cut the lettuce very finely. Also, changing the layers to: beans, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, olives, cheese helped hold things together if you're worried about ease of dipping. Making it a little in advance will also allow the lettuce to absorb some liquid, which helps to make dipping easier. I added some coriander and cumin in addition to the taco seasoning, skipped the tomatoes and used extra salsa, and opted for low fat sour cream and cheese, then topped it with a few canned jalapeno slices. Yum.

Avocado Salad with Orange-Wasabi Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
i tried the glaze a couple times and also ended up with crunchy sugar every time. i found that using high heat, not med high like the recipe suggests, works much better. i added a tad more water once it seized and kept cooking. then it re-dissolved and caramelized very quickly. next time i will use less orange juice and more wine and brush the glaze on the chicken near the end of baking since all that time in the oven turned it to a watery mess. but i loved the flavors and will definitely make this again.

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
I loved one reviewer's idea of cooking this pudding in a crock pot since I have too little patience or time to baby sit a pot on the stove. I followed the recipe, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that it took ALL DAY to cook. And at the end, the texture was too grainy and soft for my liking. The taste, however was fabulous (I added raisins and a little extra vanilla). I'll definitely make this in my crock pot again, but I think using less milk will speed up cooking time and improve the final texture.
