I love to cook! I come from a long line of incredible cooks and have learned a lot over the years. But I am still learning! I love to garden and learn about plants. I am happily married with one daughter, a son on the way, and two Ragdoll cats, Ginger and Louis.
My favorite things to cook
Depends on time of year and mood. Right now I'm pregnant so I am constantly searching for chocolate recipes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and grandma and great-grandma are southern fryers, but now that people are more aware of trans fat, I try to stay away from all that. I like that my mom has branched out, and she makes great Italian food. But she never writes recipes down. She has her own measuring system.
My cooking triumphs
Enchiladas. And this sounds crazy, but finally making potato dumplings anything close to what my grandma makes. Hers are on the top five list of comfort foods.
My cooking tragedies
Real empanadas! I tried to impress my husband when we first met, so I bought an authentic Mexican cookbook and attempted this recipe. I think we had too much authentic sangria before I made them!

Graham Cracker Crust III
This was good and I used it with Key Lime Pie IX. I don't get the egg yolk part and will leave this out next time. And I would use more butter, like maybe 4 oz.

Key Lime Pie IX
Wonderful! I used a little more lime juice and made sure it was in refrigerator well before serving so it had time to set. Zest made it pretty and taste better. Used 5 egg whites.

Shrimp and Catfish Gumbo
Great! It's a real comfort food. We added sausage and substituted cod for catfish. We loaded it with the seafood and meat. Served over rice, there is plenty left over to freeze.
