About this Cook
I am the oldest of 2 kids. Both my parents are Italian. I grew up learning to cook from my Mom and my Nona. I love to cook, read, knit (my latest hobby), make jewelry and hang out with my teenage daughter
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian - gnocchi, egg spaghetti, sugo, lasagna, pizzels, Mexican food. I love to grill (my husband says I'm better at it than he is - hee hee). I also love to make cookies - I have a killer gingersnap cookie recipe that is to die for! Making Bread and cinnamon rolls
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas we make gnocchi for Christmas rather than a turkey or ham. This year I don't know what I'll do. My Mom passed away in August and this was something we did as a team. I also love to make my own sugo (marinara sauce). My Nona didn't know how to read or write, so everthing she made we had to measure before it went into the pot. So, our recipes never turn out exactly like hers, but they're pretty close.
My cooking triumphs
Probably the first time I made ravioli. It's very time consuming, but well worth the effort. Making bread by hand (no machine) and it turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
Again, probably the first time I made ravioli. Was trying to impress my fiance and I did everything right, but I made them too big and they didn't seal well. However, they still tasted great and he decided to keep me "-) Another is making what my husband calls "green chicken". Won't go into the details, but needless to say he still calls it that and doesn't like it - even though I haven't made it in over 12 years.

Zucchini Cookies
I don't normally review a recipe - I just like to try them all. So, this is a first for me. I made the recipe as directed. I baked them for 11 minutes, until the tops were no longer "shiney". The first batch was almost gone before they cooled off. So, the next batch I doubled and just got done making them. Did I fail to mention this was all in one morning??? These are some of the best cookies I've had in a long time. Oh, I also used real butter instead of margarine because I don't have margarine in my refrigerator, but other than that, I used the exact recipe. Excellent and thanks for sharing!

Chicken Noodle Soup
OMG!!!! We love this recipe - I added more noodles than what was asked for, but we're noodle crazy at my home. Even my husband likes it and that's saying a lot. I love winter!! When else can you make something this wonderful.

Gnocchi I
This is similar to my families recipe - my Nona came from Italy and her recipe was slightly different. Egg to flour is one to one and one medium potato boiled and mashed. Also, no one has mentioned this, but whatever you do, DON"T let them dry out completely. It will take you days to cook these puppies - if they ever cook thru.
