About this Cook
wow! What a random list of hobbies I had to choose from ^_^ Anyway, I'm a mother of 2 and a I have a hungry husband. I've never been much of a cooker, but I am finding myself becoming more and more interested.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that fits into the microwave and doesn't explode from being in there. Besides that, I enjoy cooking my mock stir-fry of veggies and tofu.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a fantastic cook. I can never duplicate her food in a million years...something about that mom-magic I suppose. She makes a mean pot roast for special occasions and then turns the leftovers into an awesome stew. Wish I could make it!
My cooking triumphs
I was able to make chili verde for my husband on our anniversary, and he adored it (as did I, which is bizarre).
My cooking tragedies
Eh, I tried to make a cake for Thanksgiving using a bundt mold and it ended up being a crumble cake with half of it still stuck in the mold. We had to eat it with a spoonful of icing on the side.

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken
I tried this tonight, and it came out pretty great. I didn't use any ketchup (would have made it too tangy, in my opinion)and I used chicken breasts. Other than that, I kept the original recipe (despite a dash of pepper). I did cook for 4 hours, however, next time I make it I think I'll only do 3 because the chicken was just a little dry (but that was ok because of the yummy sauce). Will definitely make this again.

Slow Cooker Chile Verde
This was a very helpful recipe. I did minor adjustments, the biggest one being that I used beef instead of pork. I also added the cumin, red pepper flakes, and used fresh peppers. This was actually my first "real" dish I've ever prepared and it came out fantastic. My husband was shocked in amazement that I cooked for him! It was perfectly spicy and just wonderful. I will make it again!
