Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
This recipe is delicious but definitely needs to be baked the whole hour if using drumsticks or bone-in chicken. Some of the suggestions for thicker sauce are good, but that will add to the cook time as well, depending on the amount of chicken. Overall, delicious!!

Hot Asiago and Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
The recipe could be a bit creamier/cheesier. It ended up much heavier on the spinach than cheese.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
All the reviews are dead on! This is an amazing dip. I added more chilis to give it more of a zest--the more the better!

Sherry Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Delicious dip! This could probably be made in a half batch as it creates so much dip (we didn't use ours completely even after two big Christmas parties).

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
These cookies were delicious! I served them at a Christmas party and everyone thought they were store-bought--they looked so authentic! The only suggestion would be to let them cool completely in the mini muffin pans. It was somewhat hard to take them out without the bottom of the cookie breaking away. The baking process might be a bit longer if you let them sit longer, but it's well-worth it.

Beer Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
The marinade was a bit bland, as I have found to be with beer marinades. Perhaps marinating it for more than an hour or two would have made a difference. Additionally, I think a less fatty steak might have been a better choice for this recipe.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This chicken was delicously tender, and the marinade was superb! I mistakenly cooked half the chicken called for in the recipe, yet make the full serving of marinade--yet I found that the more, the better! I will definitely make this recipe again, and cannot wait to eat the left-overs tonight. This marinade would also be wonderful with steak.

Cookie Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
This cookie pizza was delicious, and everyone who ate it loved it! The consistency of the peanut butter makes for an easy job with little mess. However, I think the cookie would be a little less rich and intense with less peanut butter overall.

Blackened Tilapia with Secret Hobo Spices

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
DELICIOUS! I was worried that I put too much seasoning on the fish, but it's absolutely scrumptious--more is better! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of juice left to soak in the bread, but I can only imagine how that would have tasted.

Chicken with Pepper Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
For as much prep and spice this dish offered, it came out surprisingly bland to my tastes (my boyfriend liked it a lot but he also doesn't like spicy foods). I think the cheese could be doubled, with more jalapeno and cayenne pepper. Overall, ok dish, but there could be a lot more zest.

Delicious recipe. Marinade all day and it will be even more tender.

Cinnamon-Marshmallow Surprises

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
These muffins were simply "ok". It was hard to tell there was any marshmallow or gooiness. Simply tasted like a plain cinnamon muffin.

Cinnabun Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Pretty good cookie, but there's a lot of effort put in for what comes out. Definitely be sure to chill the dough after putting on the melted butter/brown sugar, otherwise there will be a lot of mess. And I needed to make two servings of the melted concotion to fit all the dough. Barely enough of the dollops, which definitely makes the cookie better! I might try with the frosting next time, but these cookies are surely not for those trying to keep down calories.

Apricot Round Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
The steak was "good" overall, but I'm not sure I would have combined the hot sauce with apricot. It either needs to be sweeter or spicier.

Cheddar Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
I'm actually not a huge quiche person, but this is one of the best I've had! I also used a whole teaspoon of hot sauce and liked the addition. Instead of making my own crust I used a frozen crust, but found that it was the easier way to go (with probably little difference).

Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
This recipe was delicious! I confess that I didn't have time to marinade the chicken ahead of time so I simply baked it in the marinade and flipped/reapplied more half-way through cooking, and it came out wonderfully. If you don't have time to marinade overnight, try my method and then use any extra for dipping.

Crab Cakes III

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
These crab cakes are delicious! I never liked crab cakes much in the past, but this recipe definitely changed that opinion. I only made a serving size of 4 (which makes the ingredients a little harder to work with--i.e. the egg portion), but the recipe is so good that it's easy to add/cut as seen fit. I added more crackers than suggested just to firm it up a bit (I used Townhouse), and cooked a little longer on each side since I didn't have time to chill. I definitely suggest preparing the sauce first so you don't have to worry about it at the end--delicious sauce by the way! Great recipe--thank you!

Cod with Italian Crumb Topping

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This recipe was definitely a disappointment. The cooking time isn't correct, and after checking every 5 minutes after the supposed cook time the oven couldn't do its job. It was a little tough/dry, and the Italian seasoning couldn't do anything to hide it.
