Dutch Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 5, 2013
Easy and delicious! I added strawberries for extra flavor and used a pre-made crust.

Dorsey's Fish & Oyster House Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I'm used to crab cakes with less filler (mostly just a little mayo, bread crumbs and some seasoning) but this was surprisingly good! Definitely recommend using good crab (not Fancy White) to ensure the best quality and ability to form into crab cakes. I also had to use some bread crumbs to hold it together better.

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
These meatballs are delicious! I'm used to making the grape jelly/chili sauce version, and thought this was a nice changeup. Personally, I would never use frozen meatballs unless in an absolute rush. If making from scratch, definitely use a broiler pan when baking so the fat runs off nicely. I think this recipe is perfect as-is!

Creamy Summer Crab Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
This recipe as it stands is probably not something I would make again, and will likely just try to find something else next time. It completely lacks seasoning, and in order to make it tasty we added tobasco, horseradish, parmesan, garlic salt, and old bay seasoning (I'd add a fair amount of all since it's such a big recipe). Also, I used real crab meat instead of imitation based on other people's reviews--but be prepared for the expense!

Campbell's Kitchen Chicken Broccoli Divan

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
This is quite good! I used the suggested amount of broccoli and chicken, but added a can of cheddar soup along with the broccoli cheddar soup. Be sure to add the milk to the soup before pouring into the dish. And be liberal with the cheese on top. I served on top of noodles and it was delicious for everyone--even the kids!

Deb's Tapenade

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
Not a bad appetizer, but since you'll likely have to go to the grocery store for some of the ingredients anyway I'm not sure that it's worth the time and energy rather than just picking up a container of pre-made tapenade.

Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2011
This recipe is great, as is! I added a little extra cheddar cheese, and made sure to put all the extra cheese mixture on top. 40 minutes was perfect for my oven. Thanks!

Crispy Jalapeno Honey Chicken with Tomato-Corn Confetti

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I had high hopes for this recipe with the honey and jalapeno, but the biggest problem is that the coat mixture with the egg becomes too thick and doesn't stick to the chicken. It slides off in an unappetizing way that just doesn't seem healthy or pleasing to eat. When heated, the the properties of honey lose its sticky factor, and this doesn't help the situation. Taste-wise, it's ok, but overall disappointing.

California Sherry Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I wasn't too impressed with this dish, and found it pretty bland. There's not much I would do to improve it...probably just find something new to cook.

The Best Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This recipe is good, but only with a LOT of tweaks. There is way too much brown sugar; it needs to be halved at least. Otherwise you need to increase the vinegar and soy sauce. Also, ketchup is a must--a good amount of it. While it would be easy to keep this recipe if you remember the additions, it would be easier to use a different recipe.

Crispy Chicken Strips

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Scrumptious! I used chicken grill blend, cayenne pepper, creole seasoning and a spice/salt seasoning, and the turned out perfectly.

Dos Queso Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
Pretty good dip! I probably used more cheese on top than suggested, but it was sooooo yummy. Next time I'll use a 9x9 pan so the dip is a bit thicker, and put some chopped tomatoes on top after it's out of the oven.

Dad's Magic Bar Olives

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
These were pretty good, but the effort doesn't really match the end result. After spending so much time trying to stuff the olives, I realized it would have been much easier to purchase pre-stuffed olives with cheese and just add a tab of tabasco. The breading was also a bit tricky. It seemed to easily fall off the olive when frying, and if you fry them right out of the freezer then the outside heats much faster than the inside. It might be better to flash fry and then bake so the cheese can melt without the breading burning.

Crispy Fudge Treats

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I was a little disappointed in these rice crispy treats. The end result almost tasted stale and like they had been soggy at some point, which took out the clean crisp of traditional treats. Maybe too much corn syrup? It would have been much easier and probably better tasting to just make a normal cocoa rice kripie treat, from the recipe on the back of the box.

These were delicious! Be sure to add whiskey. I used vodka since that was all we had but whiskey would have been even better.

Crab Cakes with Red Pepper Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
These were fabulous! I didn't really change a thing with the crabcakes except add the chives and parsley to taste. And for the sauce I added a little jalapeno and garlic for extra spice. You could use this sauce with pasta or chicken--it's that good!

Delectable Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
All the best ingredients in one dish! Marinade as long as you can for full flavor, and if you can use a real grill rather than a stovetop then all the better.

Creamy Sourdough Snack

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
Although some of my friends enjoyed this dip, I found it to be a bit bland, even after adding additional seasoning and cooking sherry. I substituted crab for ham, and added old bay, tabasco, lemon juice and cayenne pepper, but the dip was overwhelming with sour cream and cream cheese. A simple dip of velveeta, mayo and sherry is so much better.

Chicken Adobo II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
I really thought there would be more flavor to this dish, but it's almost like all the ingredients cancelled each other out. Maybe I needed to marinade it longer, but overall feel that the flavor could have been a bit stronger.
