About this Cook
I've been married for 2 1/2 years to a wonderful man and am the mom to a very lovable little boy of 10 months.
My favorite things to cook
I am fairly new to the whole cooking world, I have been baking however since I was 6 years old and love it! I like trying new things (whether cooking or baking) I'm not intimidated by much. I'm able to follow a recipe really well, but I don't consider myself very creative on my own. I guess I'm not adventurous that way...maybe someday I'll be brave!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family always does tons of baking for Christmas time...always way more than we could ever hope to consume in such a short season, but I always love having all our favourites there.
My cooking triumphs
ummm....does putting an edible meal on the table a few times qualify?? I don't think I've cooked anything so spectacular I would consider it something to brag about.
My cooking tragedies
Don't laugh...I've burned a few pots of boiled potatoes. Oh, and one time while I was in college, my sister and I decided to make a "stew" of sorts. We didn't like the initial flavor of it so we kept adding stuff, until it was truly gross and unrescue-able. Of course being in school we had no money, so we had to choke it down for a couple of meals. Needless to say I have never done any "experimenting" in the kitchen since then, only recipe following.

Wisconsin Blue Ribbon Chili
I made this tonight. I love chili, but my children don't like beans or spicy food, so the mild flavor and the noodles were a good alternative. I would classify this more as home made beef-a-roni instead of chili, but it was still pretty tasty.

Taco Seasoning I
I made this recipe because I needed a taco seasoning that was gluten-free. I omitted the red pepper flakes because I have young children. It was still plenty hot. I would likely cut down on the spices when I make it again, but that is just personal preference. I used regular salt and both my husband and I found it way too salty! I can't imagine how salty it would've tasted had I used sea salt. Anyway, I think next time I would cut the salt amount in half, but again, that's just our personal preference.

French Silk Frosting
Super easy and nearly impossible to mess up! I used cocoa and melted butter in place of the melted chocolate as I didn't have any on hand. Mine ended up a little bit runny but it was my own fault because I wasn't measuring the milk just dumping as I had a couple of little helpers helping me. I would recommend that if you are using the cocoa that you put it through the sifter as mine ended up with a few tiny lumps in it - not really a big deal as our cupcakes weren't going anywhere (except in our mouths!)
