Bald fat food lover that loves to cook. People ask me why I don’t become a professional chef. I tell them that I love cooking to much to ruin it by making it my job. I have thought about taking a class or two to take it to the next level, but I am happy, and so are the stomachs of my family.
My favorite things to cook
Cube steaks with mushroom sauce and fresh green beans. Potato type of choice. (I like home fries, my wife likes baked)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My uncle always cooks these super great cookies for christmas. All different kinds. Chocolate/Almond half moons, and my favorites are these marzipan base cookies with a chocolate fluff filling and a solid chocolate covering. MMMMMM, melts in your mouth. He also makes these Plum Dumplings that are to die for. He has to wait till Italian Plums are in season, and then he makes a ton of them. They are really great, fresh. Reheated are good, but the fresh ones are the bomb.
My cooking triumphs
I have found out that I am a master running a smoker. I bought a smoker at the end of summer 2008, and have really learned how to use it. I have cooked for 20 and they all loved it. I am even being asked when I am having my next party.
My cooking tragedies
I have always been into experimental cooking. When I was 4 or 5 I remember making some type of biscuit with a hot dog in it and ketchup and all that. It was my first time doing anything like that, and I am sure it was horrible. My parents pretended to like it, but I remember how they looked. And even though I was proud of my accomplishment, the picture in my head of those dried ketchup biscuit nasties makes me think of how food should not be. After that, nothing major, and mostly just improvements.
