Cry Babies II

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
Very rich cookies ,i should agree with the others who say they don't look promising at all during preps, but a pleasant surprise once baked. I actually liked them; my husband who doesn't appreciate very mixed flavors didn't ..So i guess that's about what you're looking for .Thanks for sharing the recipe .

Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I read the reviews first and used a can of peach pie filling. Mixed the yellow cake mix, cream cheese and melted butter together before adding in , and ..please do not add any sugar .Very yummy tho..the crust is just right crispy, smells heavenly while baking too ..thanks for sharing the recipe and for the reviews..

Shabbat Challah

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
Absolutely 5 stars for the looks !! i will try submit a photo later , this was a beauty when it came out of the oven. I halved the recipe, braided the dough into one huge loaf, sprinkled sesame on one side and poppy seeds on the other .I like the taste, too, actually even better the next day .I will have to agree with the others tho, in the sense that this is too dense to be 'Challah'. I, also was looking for an eggier, airier Challah ..Thanks a lot for sharing !

Mom's Yummy Onion Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
i LOVED this dish , although i didn't have any faith in it at all until the very last moment it was done , the ingredients just looked weak and weird to me ..but who knew ? VERY delicious ..i would definitely make it again ,would be nice to serve guests as well , but i would not make it as the main dish this time ..and if i make it for two of us again, i will half the recipe ,i hated having to throw out the rest ..Thanks a lot for sharing it !

Sally's Spinach Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
VERY delicious , the only thing for me was that it was too oily at the end ..leaked a little bit outside the pyrex and inside the dish i had little oil ponds , i took off with a small spoon ..So next time i do this i will put less butter and add up few different spices that i like .. fresh ground black pepper maybe a little nutmeg and paprika ..might add some cheddar inside the dish as well as the top too since it gives a very yummy flavor .. thanks a lot for sharing the recipe This is my second review and i actually forgot that i had already reviewed this recipe , i wish i had remembered , because it was way TOO OILY this time again ,please do the half of the butter , believe me it's enough..ok, next time ! i will add 1/4 cup olive oil in stead of 1/2 cup butter .but will still do it , good besides that ! i add cheese in the mixture too , yummy

Fruited Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
I made this twice so far , i love recipes that allow for creation a bit . First was with 'Triple Berries " (frozen) , they were raspberries , blueberries and marionberries .They gave the ice cream a wonderful purple color .The second time was with (frozen again ) strawberries , and i added a few drops of red and a drop of blue food dye to give the color . Everyone who tasted them loved them , there's only few things i want to say : I have the Cuisinart Ice cream maker , 1 1/2 quart , i halved the recipe the first time to fit in it but it was still a little too much mixture for the machine to handle and the berries ( i hadn't chopped throughly because i wanted texture in the ice cream )kind of clogged it , unfortunately i didn't remember this next time and did the same mistake . So the the walls get frozen but inside isn't churned perfectly . Just a reminder, maybe i should do 1/3 of the recipe next time and chop the fruit throughly . Also , the batch with strawberries came out better (sweeter and creamier) and i think that's due to the tartness of the other berries maybe ? I'm thinking about making this with pie filling as well , (peaches ?) and i will update my review then . I agree the texture is more icy then creamy , but i let the ice cream sit on the countertop for 5 mins before serving it , that mostly solves that problem . And although i half everything else when making it , i keep the berries ( fruit) the same amount and it hasn't hurt the ice cream so far . I

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
Thanks A LOT for this WONDERFUL recipe ! I have had an ice cream maker for about a year now since when im "experimenting " with ice cream recipes .. I 'll have to say this is the best one i tried so far , because whoever tasted this, loved this . I made this twice so far once with whole milk in stead of 2 % , and once with the skimmed as the recipe asks for , both were great although i think i like the skimmed milk one better . I also added a little more then 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract the first time ( the bottle was at its end so i poured the rest to finish it )Not a great idea since the peppermint taste was too sharp , almost bitter then ( although no one else but me seemed to care ) . So i would suggest sticking to the exact recipe , normally i dont give lots of credit to the 'easy ' recipes , except for this one ! I will sure make this one many more times , now i wonder if it will work for a cookie dough ice cream ? :) I'll let you know ! (UPDATE : Not great as chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream base, i'll stick to the original ) . Oh btw , for food coloring : I add 9 green and 3 yellow drops , and i definitely recommend it ! Looks exactly like store bought , a true mint color .

Roasted Rack of Lamb

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
WOW !!! Oki , i am so not a meat lover and even i LOVED this dish ! picked a slightly fatty rack from Costco ( as opposed to lean ) , eliminated salt altogether and halved the garlic . I read the reviews and followed "msp"s advice on heating the olive oil with garlic, a splash of balsamic vinegar and a smaller splash of worchester sauce ( i used two drops ) ,italian seasoned breadcrumbs and added a mixture of rosemary , thyme and sage ( I found it in Jewel and is called " fresh poultry bouquet". Set it aside, and used for coating later on. I dont have a roaster yet so made it in a pyrex .. i like well -done, so took me what ? almost 40 mins i guess . At the end, this was PHENOMENAL ! THANK YOU !
