Pork Chops with Apple Cider Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
I was excited to try this recipe after seeing all of the good reviews but I really did not like this at all, nor did anyone in my family. The apple cider vinegar was overwhelming. I followed the recipe exactly and the cook on my pork was perfect, but the apple cider vinegar ruined this dish. Also, the glaze remained liquidy and less glaze-like after cooking down for 4 minutes, so I added cornstarch and tried to fix the glaze. I usually like Chef John's recipes but this one can go.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2013
I usually go with the original Toll House recipe when making chocolate chip cookies, but I decided to try something different. This recipe is actually very similar to the Toll House recipe with slight differences in the amount of sugar, vanilla, and flour. I really liked this recipe. It makes a well-balanced and tasty cookie with crisp edges and a soft middle. I left the cookies out on a plate for a few days and the cookies were not as soft but still delicious and edible. This recipe is a winner.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2013
If this tastes like an oatmeal cookie with meat when you make it, then you are making it wrong. I just had this for dinner and followed the recipe exactly. The end result was juicy and delicious mini meatloaves. I followed the tip of another reviewer and let the oatmeal mixture sit for a while before adding the beef. The mixture was still wet but the egg kept it together and it turned out fine. I don't have a cheese shredder so I crumbled slices of cheddar by hand into small chunks and ended up with nice melty chunks in every bite.

Sausage, Peppers, Onions, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
This recipe totally saved my night tonight. I couldn't think of anything to make for dinner so I came to Allrecipes and this is the first one I saw. SUPER easy to make, fairly cheap in ingredients, and it didn't take very long to prepare. I had to alter the recipe just a little since I was only cooking for two. I used red wine instead of white wine because it's what I had at home. Dinner turned out GREAT. Flavorful and delicious!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Ready in 45 mins? Ha, try 20 mins! Dinner was more than halfway done when I realized that I wanted to serve some kind of bread with it. I quickly searched for biscuit recipes and this was the first one I found. I memorized the ingredients, ran into the kitchen and from bowl to already pre-heated oven to mouth, these biscuits took no more than 20 minutes. They came out light, fluffy, and simply delicious!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
This dish is time-consuming to prepare but so worth the trouble! The only changes I made were to use sweet Italian sausage instead of ground beef (I always prefer Italian sausage over ground beef anyway) and I omitted the chicken bouillon but I did season the white sauce a little so it wasn't bland. Be careful while parboiling the shells because it's really easy to get distracted and let them cook for a wee bit too long. Thankfully this recipe makes ALOT so I tossed aside the few shells that were a little too soft or split and still have more than enough to feed everyone. I also put my filling in a ziploc bag but cut the hole a little too big, so filling the shells took a little bit longer than I wanted it to. This dish is perfect for a weekend meal.

Buttermilk Pie IV

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
I'm giving this recipe 4 stars but only because of the amount of sugar this recipe requires. I don't like "sugary-sweet" so I cut down the amount of sugar in this pie to 1 cup and next time I make this, I may cut it down to a little more than 3/4 cup. Overall the recipe is very good, especially served warm.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
If your crust survives various family members picking at it before you even roll it out and bake it, you will have a pie with a VERY flaky and delicious crust. My very picky husband thinks this crust is perfection and so do I.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
SOOO very delicious and easy to make, there's no reason to buy it in a box if you have this recipe. For even more chocolatey flavor, make sure your tablespoons of cocoa are heaping. Other than that, I wouldn't change the recipe one bit. For the small handful of reviewers complaining that this recipe is too thin, your cooking technique is off. If you follow this recipe, your pudding will come out fine.

Healthy and addicting! I followed the recipe exactly but left the olives out since my boyfriend hates them. This was delicious without the olives but when I added the olives (minced) to eat the leftovers for lunch...WOW.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
The flavor is well-balanced and the final product is very moist and delicious. I used fresh pumpkin instead of canned because I had a pumpkin in my kitchen that I wanted to get rid of. I only had one loaf pan but I also have two muffin pans so this recipe makes enough for 1 loaf and 18 nice-sized muffins.

Pierogi (Polish Dumplings)

This recipe gives me a new appreciation for Polish grandmas. I'm not Polish but I LOVE pierogies and I wanted to try to make them myself. I give this recipe 5 stars because it is an excellent recipes but pierogies are way too time consuming for me, so I will see if my boyfriend's grandma will make this recipe for me the next time. lol

Naan

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
All I had in my pantry was all-purpose flour, but this naan still came out wonderful, light, and fluffy. I got 10 big naan from this. I made sure to proof my yeast with sugar and I used warm milk. I also rolled out my dough thin. I can't wait to see how this will come out with bread flour!

Authentic Kicked-Up Syrian Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
Even though I found this a bit tart, my VERY picky boyfriend loved this hummus so I have to give it 5 stars because that man doesn't like ANYTHING. I think the tartness is a matter of taste. It certainly didn't stop me from wolfing it down but I will probably add a tad less lemon juice next time. Also some found it too thick but I blended mine in a food processor, so the consistency was fluffy and creamy enough in my opinion.
