Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2014
I have been making this for years and it is always a big hit... It is a little time consuming with all of the peeling and chopping, but it is worth it. You can mix up the fruit for what you have available. I have even thawed frozen peaches and used them, and it turned out great!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
I was looking for something similar to the Broccoli Cheddar soup at Panera and this is it! I used 1 lb of Velveeta and 1/2 lb of cheddar, but otherwise I stuck to the recipe. I made sure that the milk got pretty thick before I added it to the broccoli and chicken broth, and then when everything was mixed together, I let it sit on medium heat for about 5-10 minutes to thicken it up. It was delicious... I wouldn't change a thing, and I will definitely be making it again!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
Excellent chocolate cake! I hate using mixes, but it seems hard to find a chocolate cake recipe without one... after trying this one, this will be the only one I make in the future! I used a strong coffee with a tablespoon of caramel syrup (the kind that you would put in coffee to make a latte) and the flavor was wonderful! I would highly suggest doing this... It doesn't taste too "coffee-y", it just tastes very rich and chocolatey. Also, I made cupcakes instead of a normal pan cake. I still cooked them at 350, but I took the time to about 17-19 minutes. I used a 7 minute frosting, because I didn't want anything too rich to overpower the flavor of the cake. Very good!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I used red potatoes, because that is all I had... I also used thinly shredded ham, again, it is all I had... I still diced up the ham, but it wasn't in big chunks. It was delicious!! Very good, and my husband loved it! He normally isn't a soup guy, and he actually went back for seconds. Next time I make it, I will try yukon gold potatoes. :-)

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
Let me start by saying that I regularly make sugar cookies... I have made them for years and people always love them. I had tried several different recipes and didn't find one that just blew me away, until now! This sugar cookie recipe is wonderful! I will stick with only using this recipe in the future. I made two changes... As another reviewer suggested, I used 4 tsp of baking powder instead of the baking soda and cream of tartar. Also, I added 3/4 tsp of almond extract.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
Very good recipe, and definitely easy to make. I started with only 1/2 cup of chicken broth, as others had suggested... This caused mine to be too thick, so I ended up adding the other 1/4 cup of the chicken broth. I added chicken when adding the green peppers and it was very good!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Very good! I only used 1/4 cup of butter, and I used fresh mushrooms. Next time, I will probably use less butter, and I will use less feta cheese and mozzarella! YUM! Previous reviews about the portion size are correct... The "filling" will make 2 quiches, and then use 4 eggs + 1 cup milk for each quiche. Very good.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
I enjoyed these and thought that they were very good, but I thought they could have been better for a couple of reasons. First, I took the advice to butter the outside of the mushrooms, and while this made them cook nicely, it didn't enhance the flavor of the mushroom much. Next time, I will add some garlic and salt (or just garlic salt) to the butter to give the mushroom a little flavor. Also, I didn't add crabmeat, but I think that it would have been much better if I had. I will do this next time. Overall, very good!! I will fix these again!

Cherry Snowballs

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
Not overly sweet... A very good cookie, and the cherry in the middle is a fun little surprise. They were pretty time consuming for me, though, so I probably will only make them during Christmas baking.

Very sweet (almost too sweet for me!), but most everyone liked it. I will probably make it again for Christmas.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
These are the best chocolate cookies ever!! I will not try any other recipes, because this one can't be beat. I made sure to melt the butter, and I chilled the dough for about an hour. This was easy to make, and I will definitely use this recipe for any chocolate chip cookies in the future!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
I made these cookies without any changes to the recipe, and they turned out wonderful. The only thing that I would change next time is to add a little less ground cloves. Still an excellent cookie, though.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I did not like this sugar cookie, which really surprised me since it got such a good review. I did add extra sugar, which most of the reviewers said to do, but otherwise I stuck with the recipe as is. The cookies turned out very thin, and when you chewed them, they would stick in your teeth because they were so sugary. Also, I did not take the advice of the reviewer who said to line your cookie sheet with parchment paper (this has never been necessary before, and I make cookies frequently). They ended up sticking to the bottom and I literally had to scrape them off. I don't know if anyone else had these problems, but I am used to making sugar cookies, and I have never had any turn out like this. UPDATE: Okay, so I tried these again, and stuck to the recipe this time... They were MUCH better without the extra sugar! This time, I used the parchment paper, as suggested. I think it is necessary to use the parchment paper with these cookies. I still had a hard time getting them off, but they were worth it! I got lots of compliments on them, and I will make them again.

Chocolate Frosted Marshmallow Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I really was disappointed with these cookies for a couple of reasons... First, they were very "cakey", not like a cookie batter. Because of this, they didn't set up very well and ended up very thin (not how I like my cookies). Also, the color for mine did not look like what you would expect of a chocolate cookie... It was almost a caramel color. I LOVE the idea for these cookies, using the marshmallow and then fudge frosting on the top, so I wanted to love them, but they just didn't cut it.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I followed the advice of other reviewers, and only used 1/4 cup of brown sugar, added at tablespoon of worsterchire, and put the glaze on the top of the meatloaf. It was excellent, and made great leftovers!!

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
This was the first time that I have used fondant, and I found this recipe to be very easy and good to work with. I have used it twice now, and the first time I didn't have enough powdered sugar, and it made the fondant look greasy. The second time I added more powdered sugar and it turned out fine. Great taste, also!

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
These can be quite messy to make, but it helps if you dice up the pepperoni first. Once I roll these up, I put them in the freezer for 30 minutes or so, just to allow them to firm up before cutting them. Everyone seems to love them, and I serve them with sides of ranch and marinara sauce.
