Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
This is absolutely amazing! It bakes up light and airy, but perfect for a pizza crust! It has a great flavor, I couldn't even detect any beer flavor at all! It was also super easy to work with - which is always a huge factor for me in a pizza dough! Quick and easy, super great pizza dough recipe!

Old Fashioned Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
This pie is just too runny. I think it has great potential, just with different thickening agents.

Wine Marinade

SO good! I made as directed and marinated the chicken in it all day prior to grilling. I basted it onto the chicken as I was grilling it and this chicken turned out so very flavorful! Delicious!

Batter Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
This recipe is...interesting. But surprisingly good when topped with the right toppings! I was a little taken aback by how they cooked up - not like a real pancake at all! I was very leery to try these, but I topped them with some berries, whipped cream and pure maple syrup and I can honestly say these were amazing with those toppings! These cakes just soaked up the syrup and berry juices so each bite was sweet and delicious! Reminds me ever so slightly of the pancakes that my Grandma made when I was growing up - thin and absorbent!

Beef Nacho Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
This is really good! It definitely needs to bake for longer than 20 minutes because it was still a little on the cold side when we ate it. But the taste was great! Not too spicy and my two year old loved it!

Herb Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
These were RIICH!! But so, so good...and so, so sinful! I didn't use the dried onion because I didn't have any - I felt like it could use some salt or something. Next time I might try some garlic salt. It's best to let these cool off a bit before trying to take them out of the pan (I did these in a muffin tin, by the way....4 pieces per tin) otherwise they don't stick together in biscuit form, they just come out in four small pieces. But if you let them cool a bit, they come out as one nice, uniform biscuit. I had some butter/herb mixture left after I rolled all of the dough in it, so after baking for 12 minutes, I used a basting brush to brush the remaining butter over the top of the biscuits to keep them from getting too dry. I baked an additional 3 minutes after that and they came out just perfect!

Toffee Crunch Cookies

These are REALLY good! I accidentally put in 1 cup of brown sugar instead of 3/4 - but it definitely didn't hurt things! This recipe is a keeper!

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
This was a great recipe! Truly tasted of fall! I thought the frosting was a bit runny, should have added a bit more powdered sugar. Otherwise, I made this recipe exactly as written and I was SO pleased with how it turned out!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
What a great pumpkin seeds recipe! I followed the advice of other reviewers and used seasoned salt in place of plain salt. I also had to quadruple the recipe to well season my 2 cups of seeds. What a fabulous recipe!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
This recipe was so great! It worked so much better than any other recipe I've ever used to make popcorn balls. It works best to let the mix cool just a bit before shaping it - it shapes MUCH better once the "goo" has set up a bit. What a great recipe!

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I combined this recipe with another recipe in one of the church cookbook that I have. Basically, the only change to this recipe of the two was that I stirred in a bag of frozen, mixed vegetables with the meat and soup. I also eliminated the cheddar cheese over the top of the tots. This was just like Mom and Grandma used to make and my husband and son also loved it! What a great comfort food for a chilly, fall day!

Low-Fat Apple Spice Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
These muffins are really delicious, and a nice, low cal option for snacking and breakfast. I followed the recipe, except that I reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup and I used just plain, white sugar. I also used all white flour instead of half and half. I think that next time I might try replacing that tablespoon of oil for a tablespoon of applesauce - it's a common baking swap and seeing as these are apple muffins I think that the applesauce would lend nicely to the apple flavor of the muffin. I also only had vanilla yogurt on hand, so I used that - which was another reason that I chose to lessen the amount of sugar used. The chunks of apples in the muffin were a really nice treat! The recipe states that it only makes a dozen muffins, but I got a dozen and a half, so that was nice! This was a great recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
I will agree that this was a "pretty" frosting for cut out cookies, however I did not care for the flavor. It was also a little on the runny side - it looked like it was set up nicely but it all ran off of the cookies and on to the plate.

Cranberry Pumpkin Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
I really wasn't sure what to expect from this recipe - with such a random assortment of ingredients I figured it could either turn out amazing or a total flop. Luckily, it turned out amazing! I made the recipe to a t and what resulted was moist and flavorful! I have issues with getting quick breads to bake all the way through so I decided to make this recipe into muffins instead of a loaf of bread. Baking time was decreased to only 18-20 minutes and yielded 20-ish muffins. I also want to note that it is very important to use the handheld electric mixer to combine the wet ingredients - it broke up the cranberry and banana chunks which was nice so that you weren't surprised by any chunks in the baked product and also to help distribute the flavor more evenly. This recipe is definitely a keeper - great for fall!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
I made a few changes to this and felt that it turned out perfectly! I used 2 cups of broth and 1 cup of water and then put in one cup of uncooked brown rice to cook with the meat and veggies. I omitted the chicken and just used the shrimp and sausage. This was a bit spicy, but I don't think I would do anything to tone it down. It was a bit spicy for my 2 year old, but the adults thought it was tolerable.

Simple Cajun Seasoning

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
Having never made or used any type of cajun seasoning before, I was unsure of what to expect. While this was a very spicy mix, it worked well in the Jambalaya dish that I made and I have no complaints. My only recommendation would maybe be to halve the recipe. This makes A LOT - especially if you don't use this blend often.
