Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
I decided to try this last night since I'm fighting a cold. It was delicious! I did make a few changes though, which is why I only gave it four stars. I used 8 chicken bouillon cubes instead of 4, plus I added extra herbs & a pinch of red pepper flakes as someone suggested. I substituted 1/2 tsp. onion powder for the onion and used more garlic than called for. Since I left out the onion, I only needed 1 tsp. of olive oil to sautee the garlic. We served the soup with some French bread brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with garlic salt & Parmesan cheese then toasted. It was an excellent meal!

Tart and Bubbly Wedding Punch

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2002
This was a great punch, although I had to alter the ingredients slightly since I couldn't find them all. I used raspberry soda rather than cranberry gingerale. Also, I used frozen pineapple/orange juice instead of just pineapple; I couldn't find it. Thanks!

Caramelized Apple Bites

Reviewed: May 14, 2001
These apple bites were really good right after I made them, but I didn't serve them for a couple of hours. By then, all the juices had combined with the caramel and turned really soupy. They still tasted good, though. Just serve them immediately!

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2001
I tried this tonight. It turned out pretty good. It was very easy to make. The gravy is really rich; it would be good served with some crusty bread for dipping.

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
This recipe was very easy and delicious. I used 2 cans of low-fat cream of mushroom soup and an 8 oz. can of mushrooms. I also used minced garlic instead of garlic powder. This is a definite do-over at our house. Thanks, Carol!

Unbelievably Good Fruit Dip

This is a great fruit dip and very easy to make. It was a big hit at my sister's wedding shower over the weekend. I'll defintely make it again. Thanks!

Salty Dog I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
This is a great drink! I love grapefruits with salt on them (everyone laughs at me), so this drink is perfect for me. I do cut back on the salt a bit, though...1/4 tsp. is a bit much. Anyway, thanks! (By the way, I hope I don't mess up the rating by giving it one star on the kid rating--they're not supposed to like it cuz their not supposed to try it! LOL)

Creamed Spinach Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2001
I tried this recipe last night and modified it some by adding: a can of mushrooms, drained; 1/4 cup feta cheese; 1/2 can of artichoke hearts, drained & chopped; and some garlic powder. It turned out good. Next time, I'm going to add some Swiss or mozarrella cheese too.

I had never fried squash before, and this turned out great. I used fresh yellow squash out of my dad's garden...Hubby loved it! Thanks!

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

These really do taste like the ones at Red Lobster! They will be a regular at my house from now on! (By the way, I brushed the melted garlic butter on before AND after baking the biscuits.) YUM!

Steak Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2002
I used different vegetables for this dish, but other than that I followed it exactly. The sauce was very good; I didn't think it was too salty at all. I think I will add some red pepper flakes next time, and maybe some pineapple chunks. We will have this again. Thanks!

Easy Tomato Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
We had this recipe last night. I don't like stewed tomatoes, so I used plain diced tomatoes. I used the kind of red wine that I had, and I added a small can of mushrooms. We served all of it over rice. It was pretty good. I'm looking forward to leftovers for lunch. Thanks, Dana!

Francisco's Blender Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2001
This salsa turned out pretty good, although I ended up with salsa paste. Next time, I think I'll watch how long I leave it in the blender! It does taste better after it's been in the fridge for a while, too. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Florentine Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2001
This was a great casserole. It was very flavorful and also filling. I didn't have Parmesan cheese, so I sprinkled it with feta during the last 15 minutes of baking. Yum! By the way, it would be really easy to substitute mushrooms for the chicken and have a vegetarian dinner.

Incredible Punch

Reviewed: May 14, 2001
This was a really great recipe. I halved it and used it for a baby shower. It was a beautiful pink color, and everyone loved it. I couldn't find any flavored ginger ale, so I used raspberry soda. In any case, it was a great punch. Thanks, Mary!

Continental Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2001
I made a couple of changes: I used plain diced tomatoes, undrained, and instead of onion, I used 1/4 tsp. onion powder. It turned out really good, except I think I'll use 2 cans of tomatoes so it will be saucier. We had it over rice and really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Fried Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I made a double batch of these last night at some friends' house. (I only doubled the artichoke hearts - there was plenty of breadcrumbs & egg wash.) YUM! Everyone loved them, and we've agreed that we definitely have to make them again!
