Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
I have never made an egg based ice cream before, not to mention a RAW egg based ice cream. I was a little scared. I wondered if we'd all die of food poisoning. I threw caution to the wind, though. Mostly because I'm too lazy to heat it all up. I took a deep breath, pulled up my sleeves, and made a double batch with a full cup of cocoa powder, a teaspoon of salt, and two tablespoons of vanilla. After we'd frozen it, I took my first bite, and my whole culinary world changed. I was in taste bud heaven! I found chocolatopia! I heard the Hallelujah Chorus coming out of my ice cream container! I have NEVER had ice cream SO good, SO perfectly chocolate and creamy, and SO SO SO (!!!!) addictive! You can throw anything in there with it, and it'll be fantastic! I will say this, though...and I really really mean it...add the salt. It isn't going to have the same life altering effect on you without it. I will never EVER buy ice cream again.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
As is, this is very bland. Modifying it a bit would make a great start. The half butter and upping the salt to a full tsp would make it much better. Also, I had to add milk to make this a viable dough.

Honey Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
We love it! I doubled the recipe and added an egg to each bowl of dough (I use two when doubling a recipe for convenience). It had a lovely, dense texture without being too thick. I find it crumbs better with the egg included. Made 2 loaves and a pan of dinner rolls plus a braided loaf as well. I did an egg wash on the braid and rolls and sprinkled it with oats. Fantastic for bulk baking. Will try multi-grain with this next time.

Donna's Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because we did put a bit more chocolate in it. It was still outstanding. The kids are destroying the whole batch like little vacuums as I type. Great way to get veggies in the kids!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
Really good wheat bread. I made half the dough exactly the way the recipe said, and the other half I mixed in oats and sunflower seeds. The kids love both, and I was able to use two longer loaf pans easily. This will be our weekly wheat bread recipe for sure.

German Sauerbraten

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
Our family absolutely loved this. I used to cook for a living, and I could tell by the recipe this would be awesome. What I didn't expect was our 2 year old stealing everyone's meat! This didn't last five minutes on the table. Especially good for a very large family.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
This is my family's favorite way to eat beef now. My kids ask for the mushroom soup and onion beef now. LOL! I toss in left over veggies and cover it with the soup and onion mix, and they eat any vegetable. This is an especially nice way to get cauliflower out of the fridge. Love this recipe!
