Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
Definately yummy. I added my own stuff to it as many other people did. A great perk to this soup is that it cooks quickly and does taste like it simmered all day. I was feeling lazy when I made this so I used a bag of shredded cabbage and shredded carrots to make the soup. I also added celery and used marinara sauce instead of a can of stewed tomatoes. For seasoning I used salt, pepper, rosemary (dried), and fresh basil. This is a recipe definately worth making. I will be making this again.

Sausage Casserole

Yummy! I wound up ditching the cottage cheese (I hate it) and used 10 eggs, some milk, and added ham and extra cheese. I used the suggestion to cook the hashbrown crust first and it all turned out awesome!

Even with making all the suggested adjustments these are still just ok. They are good, but not great.

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Yummy! I edited this recipe a bit though by combining it with another recipe that sounded good. To this I added one can of condensed cream of chicken soup, a dash of milk, 1/4-1/3 cup of cooking sherry, and a handful of fresh cilantro. It added depth to the recipe and a lot of nice flavor. I served it over rice with some Mexican blen cheese and it was awesome!!!

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Pretty good! I made it with panko crumbs instead of traditional bread crumbs. The only thing I would change otherwise is to add more salt to the flour mixture.

Chocolate Muffins

I don't see what all the hoopla is about. I was very unimpressed with these. I feel as though they have very little flavor and are bland. Also, the texture is nothing like a muffin. If anything its the texture of cake, cake without flavor. I wont be making these again. A definite waste of ingredients.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Best pie ever!!! I make it every year during the fall and I absolutely love it. It's so good that I haven't bothered to look up another apple pie recipe since I found this one three years ago. Awesome.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
Yummy and pretty moist. I took it with me to the Philadelphia Folk Fest this weekend and my camp site liked it. It went great with butter and our grilled pork chops. It was also delicious when I used it with melted cheese like a grilled cheese sandwhich. I will be making this again.

Clams Italiano

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
I also agree with the individual that gave this recipe one star. The finished product definately had too much oregano and parsley and masked any other flavors. I'm giving this two stars though b/c I think it has potential and perhaps I also used the wrong wine. After I added fresh lemon juice, salt, pepper, and fresh parmesan the broth was tolerably palatable. I will not be following this recipe again.
