Wonderful recipe! I did change a lot, per reviewer’s recommendations and necessity. For the sauce- Used 1 (28 oz) can of crushed tomatoes with Italian style seasoning, 1 (28 oz) can of tomato puree, added ¼ bunch parsley sprigs and scooped them out, added italian seasoning, left out the bay leaf, and added a bit of red wine. For the meatballs- added Italian seasoning, used Unikass Robusto cheese from Whole Foods (all I had at hand) instead of parm (and I doubled the amount), and used ritz crackers instead of the bread crumbs. I also used hot sausage and ground beef. Lots of changes, but delicious!
