I have used chocolate cake mix and added 1 cup of crushed Heath bars and 1 cup chopped pecans. My family loved them and the cookies were gone in about 2 hrs.Love this recipe. RJD1247

Italian Peas

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
I have cooked my peas like this for the past 40+ years. I now have grandchildren who now just love these. They are also good if you substitute butter for the olive oil.

Wilted Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This is pretty much the recipe my grandmother used when I was a child. However she did not use eggs in the dressing. This was the only way my dad would eat spinach. By the way, my grandmother was born in 1875 and this was the way her mother made this salad.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I don't know just what I was expecting when I made these, super biscuits I guess. They were easy to make, but are just baking powder biscuits. Nothing special. I gave it 4 stars for the ease in making.

Easy Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Very good, however I had to add extra flavoring to make it GOOD. I added a splash of chocolate mint and that made it. I will make again and again. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This was a very easy delicious dish. Every one loved it and thought I should fix this all the time. I did make one change. I used an Italian 5 cheese mix instead of just Mozzarella cheese. YUMMY! I will definintly make again.

Vanilla Wafer Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
This was awesome!!! I followed the recipe except I used 1 1/2 cups sugar and I did not have an 8 oz package of coconut and measured out 2 cups since an 8 oz package of shredded cheese holds 2 cups. Everyone just loved it.

Quick and Easy Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
Totally awesome. I did add a package of taco seasoning to the beans as someone suggested otherwise followed the recipe. My 6-year old grandson could not get enough. Will be making this again.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
Oh my goodness!! This cake is WONDERFUL!!. I halved the recipe to make a 9x9 cake. And since my mother and I are diabetic, I used Splenda Blend instead of sugar. I tossed in a handful of chopped walnuts also. Otherwise made just as recipe stated. I am not normally fond of cake with fruit, but this one was so simple to make and so good that I will be making this frequently.

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
This is the best chocolate pound cake ever. I had a recipe for chocolate pound cake from high school umpteen years ago that got lost in a move. I must say this is much better. I made this for my son to take on a long road trip and it barely made it to Florida from East Texas. It has such a rich taste and the texture also was just right. I kept a portion for myself and it stayed moist for about 4 days. Thanks so much for this recipe.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
I fixed these for breakfast and they nwere yummy. I got 24 mini-muffins out of recipe. I dipped half in the sugar/cinnamon mix after dipping in the melted butter and the other half in vanilla glaze which some one else suggested. I also used buttermilk instead of sweet milk and subbed 1/2 tsp baking soda for the baking powder. These will be a regular in my breakfast lineup. Thanks for the post.

Pumpkin Maple Pie Supreme

I made this for Thanksgiving especially for my dtr-in-law as she loves maple flavored sweets. This had a weird taste and was just not good. Even she did not like it. I will not be making this again.

Amazing Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
OH MY!! These ribs are truly amazing. I did make a few modifications. First, I never boil ribs because that's just not done where I live in Texas. I found a rub recipe on this site, Mempis Rub, and let the ribs sit overnight with it on them. I then wrapped them in foil and cooked them in the oven real slow mainly 'cause I don't have a grill. I could not find any Porter but did find a Porter/Pilsner blend called "Missippi Mud" and used that. I used a combination of baby backs and regular spare ribs and I'm not exagerating there were only six pieces left. I plan to use this recipe again. Thanks so much for this recipe.

Easy Homemade Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
As written I would rate as 4, however with the changes I made it was a 5. First, I never put beans in my chili, that is almost a sin. I added minced garlic instead of powder and I used a clove of this. I added a tablespoon of chili powder and used a teaspoon of cumin. I used chili-ready tomatoes which have some seasoning included and only an 8 oz can of tomato sauce. I decreased the water to 1 cup rinsing the tomato sauce can and tomato can out with this water. This makes a nice thick bowl of red; add sour cream and shredded cheese to the bowl and you have a wonderful meal. Oh, also make a skillet of cornbread and enjoy.

3-Cheese Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
This is an exceptional dish. I usually make recipes the first time exactly the way it is written. However, this was adjusted out of necessity. My grandson said he does not like mushrooms so I used Broccoli Cheese soup. I misread the instructions and used a total of 4 1/3 cups of cheese. I added some mixed veggies and broccoli with cheese sauce to the soup/cheese mix as well some cooked shrimp. I did not bake it but sat it on low fire till it was heated through. I know it was good as that picky 6 year-old ate it well. I will be making again and this time like the recipe reads.
