About this Cook
Hey everyone! What can I really say about myself, hmm... Well I guess I'm pretty insecure guy in general, and when it comes to cooking multiply that 10 fold. I typically cook for my group of college friends at least 5-7 times a week. A few months ago I was tight on cash and told them I wouldn't be able to cook for them for a few weeks. They stopped answering my calls shortly after that. They must have been really heart broken about missing out on my cooking! I eventually started working two jobs so I could make enough cash to continue cooking for them again. (The vacation to Hawaii can wait a few years, right?) I missed them a lot since we never really hang out aside from when I'm making dinner, but I know they're all probably just busy. Everything is back to how it was now :) I'm so blessed to have such wonderful friends!
My favorite things to cook
I cook all kinds of food! My favorite foods are those that aren't ruined if I accidentally get a few tears in the pot. Things like spaghetti, potatoes, rice, etc. Sometimes I just get a bit stressed out and the tears come pouring out of me without realizing it. I'm such a clutz LOL!
My favorite family cooking traditions
On the weekends my mom would often allow me cook the roux for our Sunday gumbo. We never did spend much time together so I never learned the proper method. I tried my best but occasionally I would overcook it. This would send her into a fit of rage where she would scream at me and hit me with a belt. It's my fault really, I should have been more careful to not ruin Sunday dinner! To this day she keeps telling me that my poor cooking is why my dad left :( That's why I'm on this website trying to become a better chef. Once dad tastes my Chicken Marsala he'll surely come back!
My cooking triumphs
None yet, but I'm working on it everyday!
My cooking tragedies
I once accidentally undercooked a batch of chicken at a Girl Scout fundraiser. A lot of them got VERY sick, and I think 3 of them died. Whoops!

Slow Cooked Pork Barbeque
This recipe was simple and very easy to make before heading off to work. One thing you should be aware of, if you use thinner slices of pork then they will dry out if left cooking for 8 hours. I used four 1/2" boneless pork chops and they were great after 6 hours.
