Me with my baby son
About this Cook
I am a former music teacher, now a stay at home mom of 2 boys. I love cooking and I am known for my desserts, especially cheesecake. I once had a cheesecake business but had to give it up when my second child was born. I am also a professional vocalist and have a degree in music ed. My cooking is strongly influenced by the wonderful cooks in my life - my mother in laws, my mom, grandmother and good friend Elizabeth.
My favorite things to cook
Cheescakes - favorite 2 are cafe latte and white chocolate raspberry appetizers - all kinds, Italian - chick parm, spaghetti w/ meatballs, Southern Comfort - like Paul Deen, breakfast/brunch items and kid friendly cuisine
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandmothers' egg casserole and sticky buns for Easter brunch citrus creme brulee baked french toast, sausage - cheese grits casserole, fruit salad for Christmas morning breakfast
My cooking triumphs
Full Thanksgiving meal made in crockpots and stovetop when oven was broken. It was wonderful, despite my hysterical crying after my oven broke the night before Thanksgiving!!!!
My cooking tragedies
When I was 16, I made a cake using bacon grease - I thought it was shortening. The foul smell filled the house and my brother has never let me forget it! Everything I make he asks if it has bacon grease in it!

Key Lime Cake III
This has been my oldest son's birthday cake for the past 2 yrs and it is always requested at my husband's Christmas party. The one change is I cut on the oil a tad and substitute applesauce. Great recipe!!!!

Simple Turkey Chili
I followed the recipe to the "T" and thought it had no flavor other than just being too spicy. I ended up adding tomato paste, beef broth and a little bit of sugar and it was still so-so. Will not use this recipe again.

Baked Pork Chops II
Really good and easy and the pork chops were actually tender. Would make one change - this recipe has too much black pepper, which makes it too spicy for the little ones palette. Will use 1/4 teaspoon next time.
