Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2014
Left out the potatoes and made mashed potatoes instead. The steak was tender, the carrots and onions were yummy and the gravy was out of this world over the mashed potatoes--thanks, Katy for a super easy work night dinner!

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
Made it 3 times, with butter instead of margarine: 1-original recipe, 2--with 1 c extra oats, 3--with 1/2 c extra oats and cinnamon chips. All were good, better the next day. 1 c of oats made them a little dry; 1/2 c helped them not spread so much. Still like the oatmeal scotchies recipe from Quaker a bit better.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2014
I meant to make these for Christmas, but never got around to it. Believe me, I will next year! Made the exact cookie recipe and used melted white chocolate for the glaze. Very light and delicate. I used a small cookie scoop, refrigerated the dough about 10 minutes after scooping; hollowed the center with the chapstick cap(!) and squeezed a dab of seedless raspberry jam in the pockets. Baked for 13". No seeping, no breaking. Made about 4 dozen.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
The only thing I changed was add 1/2 c chopped walnuts. After Extreme Banana Nut Bread from this site, I think I am spoiled. The banana flavor was not as strong as I like. The crumb topping was great.

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
This was pretty good; you have to realize that the "dough" is pretty batter-y. The only advantage was no kneading. Very light and fluffy rolls.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 26, 2013
I was raised in the deep south and pound cake with ice cream after Sunday Dinner was the dessert my grandmother most often served, especially in the summer. Her pound cake was the traditional kind (only butter, sugar, eggs and flour) and while it was really yummy, I always felt my aunt's with sour cream was a little better. This recipe is very close. I doubled it, added 1/2 t almond extract, used 1/2 t baking soda and 1/2 t salt and cooked it longer and slower (1 hr 15 min at 325 degrees) in a bundt pan. Mmmmmmmm! I'm planning to serve it tomorrow after our barbecue with homemade peach ice cream. (If it lasts that long!)

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
This recipe got my attention because it is easy and sounded good. Made it as directed and it was good, but I can't help but wonder what a teaspoon or two of good italian seasoning would add. I'll try that next time.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
I made these today as a pre-Christmas trial cookie. It has definitly made the list! Very good as is; I may decrease the flour a bit next time to make them a little less crumbly to scoop. Also, I may alter the ratio of sugars: I think more brown sugary taste might be good, too.

Strawberry Shortbread Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
This was yummy! I made this for Easter dessert and it was a hit! I made a deep dish shortbread crust out of pecan sandies and butter and baked it about 10 minutes. Then I just heaped on the strawberries! The glaze was still pourable when I put it on the pie. Had to sort of stir the berries to get it to seep down to the bottom. Very easy and pretty spring dessert--thanks, Sherry!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Easy when you can't do smoked pork. All the flavor is in the barbecue sauce you choose, however.

Butter Pecan Rounds

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
Thank you so much, Jennifer! I have been trying to find a recipe like my grandmother's. She always stocked her cookie jar with these and if they ran out, she had waxed paper rolls in the freezer and sliced them right off onto the baking sheet. It brought back some wonderful memories.

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
These have been a Christmas standard for years at my house, but I have to tell you about a modification for a HUGE batch of these. I got invited to a cookie exchange this year and needed 8 dozen of these to take. This cookie is very time consuming to make, but totally worth it if you make a small batch. I couldn't fathom the hours it would take to make it the regular way, so this is what I did. I made a quadruple batch and added about 1/2 c extra of flour. Then I chopped up 3 jars of cherries, drained and mixed it in. Dropped them with a small cookie scoop (about 1-1/2 t), baked for 12 minutes and let them cool and refrigerated them for a while. Meanwhile, I melted some good quality milk chocolate coating and dipped them in that. The coating was firm, keeping the cookies moist. I won "Best Tasting Cookie!" Thank you so much for the recipe, Barbara! We have enjoyed these for many years.

Classic summer party fare! I've made this many times as directed, but today did not have italian dressing mix. I substituted Good Seasons Garlic and Herb and I think I like it even better!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
I used this frosting on Sugar Cookies IV from this site and changed the fat to 1/4 c unsalted butter and 1/4c shortening. Tinted the frosting and this recipe frosted 24 large cutouts. Really good!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
Yummy! I only changed one thing: instead of 2t vanilla, I used 1, plus 1/2t almond extract. This was mostly to see if I could match the local bakery's cookie that sells for $1.50 each. Mine were actually better! I rolled them out thick, and did large cutouts and frosted with sugar cookie frosting from this site. A definite keeper!

Baked Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
WOW! I was trying to find a recipe for Thanksgiving that would not be passed over or left over. No worries about that here! Instantly gone with rave reviews and questions why I didn't make more! I am a big Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix fan and used 1-1/2 boxes instead of the 12 oz pkg suggested. It was moist and yummy. We'll make this again (but double the recipe next time!!)
